This is a nice coffee stop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It has a large parking area. Tourist buses stop here so factor that in in terms of wait times and seating space. The service was friendly and fast. The outdoor area is extensive but feels under utilised. Small kids playground or other shade seating could help.

There was no sign outside saying you must pay for the persimmons - I had some in hand and a staff member came outside and asked me in (what I felt was) a quite rude tone “Are you going to pay for those?” Of course I said sure and wanted to help a local business out, so I went inside and paid.Didn’t feel welcome in this place at all. The staff barely made eye contact, didn’t say thank you.I live in NZ but was coming to this area for the first time with my dad who came to visit from overseas, we both wanted to get out of there very quickly.Prices are super expensive. If your staff are tired of asking people to pay for the persimmons, it isn’t that hard to put a sign up letting people know. I’m quite put off by this experience from fellow NZers.

Lovely coffee shop, fast and friendly staff. My flat white was great, enjoyed every sip of it. Newspapers available for customers in comfy couches next to the entrance. Seating outside is a must in a sunny day like today. Toilet was clean and in order. Seems to be quite popular, with plenty of parking and easy to find.

The best part about my experience here is that I happened to like the art on the walls from local artists and I picked out a print to purchase. About 10 minutes later the artist walked in! I got to meet her and tell her that I liked her work so much. As an artist myself, I was so happy to be able to do that. The food was good and the service handled our tour landing all at once with ease.

This place is nice...cosy with some nice art. The coffee is ok, not bad but not great. Food, well the waffles were ok, but nothing too amazing. Can't comment on the other food but there was a reasonable range. Plus it's quite expensive for a cafe. Most meals $25 plus.

Overall a good experience, although staff were particularly terse and lacked the sensibilities of cafe staff. Didn’t bother me but I can see it bothered others in the review. This place is EXPENSIVE. Sausage/apple roll was $15, I’ve seen a similar sized roll for $8 at other cafes (and even that’s expensive). $10 milkshakes seemed a bit excessive too. They also charge 15% on public holidays.Wouldn’t return but I didn’t have a bad experience.

We stopped here as part of our guided tour experience (Hobbiton + Waitomo) and got ice creams and drinks. They serve Tip Top ice creams - we were recommended to get the Hokey Pokey but got the passion fruit and boysenberry ones instead and I’m really glad we didThe staff were very friendly and had a nice bit of a chat. We didn’t order coffee or food so can’t speak to that but we grabbed some black currant juice from the cooler and the two ice creams in cups, it was a reasonable and good experienceMy only gripe was the same lady filled both mine and my partners cups and he got a LOT more boysenberry ice cream than I got passion fruit :( but it’s not even worth taking one star off.Nice seating outside except it was very windy when we were there so we just stayed on the seats inside. Good spot for a break if you’re driving!

Great little cafe in a small town. Staff are friendly and try their best to help. Food is delicious - try the apple and yogurt cake and the salmon quiche. Great setting to sit outside. Highly recommend.

Nice food but the interior of the cafe looking tired & in desperate need of a refurb. This could be a great little cafe if some investment made on the decor and furniture. The outdoor space is great on a sunny day.

There was a total lack of cooked menu selection and what they had was ordinary. The front of house staff were polite but badly presented. They need uniforms and a couple of other things that need done which I am not going to mention here but I suggest looking in the mirror. There was no hand towels in the toilet. I suggest getting a hand dryer then there would never be disappointment. The overall look of the place was drab. So, come on team, you have a good looking location. Pick things up and don't let anyone else give you a bad review again. I do care about these things
