Great hut! Lots of light in here. We went in November, it was warm. Didn't need to use the fire. The flats below are amazing, saw a deer

Decent hut, only complaint is the rubbish left there by previous trampers. Clean up after yourself.

Awesome place to walk to and stay. Very nice. No hot water though but otherwise pretty comfy and cozy

Tutuwai Hut
This hut is in an awesome location. The woods surrounding it are just stunning. For a serviced hut though it was in a poor state. The sink didn't drain on one side so the pipe was removed and it went straight through to the floor. The water was full of mosquito larvae. The beds are also awkward, just inches above the floor for the bottom bunk. The ticket box was so full we couldn't jam our ticket stubs in. There was also lots rubbish.

Nice walk in either via Cone Saddle, Mt Reeves or up river from Kaitoki. Bit more strenuous via Marchant and Omega.Hut is old but nice. Fire is warm and wood is provided, though it's not so dry.Hut has indoor sinks and taps and Nice deck looking out over river with nice campsite below.
