Welcoming and warm, staff service excellent. Food really lovely. Highly recommend brisket burger and the pie. Friend had chicken dish and loved it too.

When we arrived at 6:30pm the place had another private function & a nearly full dining room.Friendly staff who I could see weren’t overwhelmed but worked with care.Food was well presented & delivered. But not memorable. The citrus cured salmon must have only had the merest hint of curing. It was like sashimi without wasabi & soy. Both of the mains were over cooked. The lamb I saw was well done without a blush of pink & my fish was dry. The only saving compliment were the vegetables that accompanied the dishes. My dishes were both under seasoned. And the Cherry Chocolate Trifle summarised the entire bland Thistle Inn taste experience. It just lacked flavour.

Had a birthday party in a couple of the function areas recently. The event coordinator Jess was very good to work with and the configuration of rooms worked perfectly with a dedicated area for the DJ and dancing and an adjacent room for the food and space for people to sit. The platters of hot and cold finger food were great and the night went off smoothly. I gave feedback after initially being told by the duty manager that my guests would have to go downstairs to get their drinks but that was rectified quickly with the small bar upstairs being stocked and staffed. All in all a great night!

Can only speak to the private dining room up stairs. Nice venue for a get together, we had a set menu for a Christmas lunch. The food is really nice and comes with a delicious cocktail. It was a really nice experience.

Iconic and a historical pub that maintains the standards time and time again. I've been here for lunch, just a drink and dinner, and never disappointed. Good food and great value for money. Great gluten-free and vegetarian options, too. I totally recommend this place.

We had booked a room for a private function - staff Christmas Dinner. The actual place is so big that there were a variety of rooms and lots of other groups using the facility. It’s so big that I didn’t even know other groups were there.So with that in mind and staffing issues they did extremely well in catering for our group.The room decorated beautifully, well ventilated and the food was delicious.

I actually love this place. The building is historic and the food is good. I especially love the oysters, scallops and the wagyu burger. The salad is lovely as well.Unfortunately, on our last visit, the staff was not so friendly :(. She kept rolling her eyes when we asked about the menu and added orders as we came as a group. I didn’t finish my wagyu burger and asked one of the waiters to put it in take away box but they threw away the food instead:(. She apologized but I was so disappointed.

I enjoyed the atmosphere. They were playing some jazzy type upbeat music. It was unexpectedly nice. I had the Butternut risotto. Very rich. Tasted good, colorful. I also enjoyed an one-step Hazy IPA
