SIXT Rent a Car – Queenstown Airport

If you book online, the website makes it look as if you're fully insured. Make sure you read the fine print! You'll find that when you pick up your car, they will hit you with oh I can see your excess is $3000

Friendly and helpful staff.They gave us a new car which went well. We had no dramas on its return, even though there was plenty of dirt on the car after driving it up and down the ski mountains.Don't risk saving a few dollars by using other less reputable local car hire companies, like Ezu, which risk high stress and surprise additional costs on return (check out their reviews for some of the bad stuff that customers, including us, have reported)The only recommendation for improvement for a totally excellent Sixt experience would be to show all clients how to fit the snow chains to the actual vehicle they are hiring during winter and show them how to correctly engage any 4WD or snow traction modes that should be used with chains. Being able to correctly fit the chains is essential for driving safely up and down the ski mountains when the roads are bad. Some of the new vehicles have very tight clearances between the tyre and suspension struts. Incorrectly fitted chains risk damaging the suspension and/or brakes and could cause an accident.

Everything was good but I would like to share a bit about their customer service. I returned the car key to the rental sales agent at Queenstown airport a few days back. Everything was good until I started to ask some questions. Maybe they were so busy with their work, they were kind of in a hurry to answer the questions to get rid of me. The girl basically a bit rude to talk over another staff to answer my questions while she has her own customer in front of her. Why not let him answer my questions himself? Maybe they need to learn to be patient and be nice? Customer service skills to be improved? Otherwise you will continue to receive negative feedback from your customers. And all the reviews are opened for the public to see.

The company that takes ownership and put things right. I had a great experience with Sixt , Fantastic vehicles and the price was really perfect. This is my 3rd time using Sixt ,,

Jessica and the rest of the team were courteous and highly professional. The car provided was clean and ran without any problems for our week long stay in Queenstown. Nothing was a problem and I will definitely be renting from them again on any future trips.

To begin with, I didn't appreciate the 'advice' that it's more than common for driver's to have accidents and thus the additional insurance cover was to be seriously considered. What I failed to check was the tyre condition (as I was too worried about the existing damage vs what was recorded), so only towards the back end of the trip did I learn the front ones were so worn that they are legally not road worthy. That is, they're not safe to drive on (see photos)! The inside of the windscreen needed a really good clean too. The last cleaner/driver left newspaper in the driver's foot well also. I'm expecting a bit more when coughing up nearly $2000 for a 9-day hire. Now that summer is coming to an end, I'm hoping other renters are checking the tyres before they drive away.

Absolutely rate the guy at the airport front desk, super friendly and helpful, fantastic service. The lady on the phone was super accommodating too when we changed our journey. Can’t rate them high enough. The car was a brand new AWD, awesome!
