They are everything you would want in a place to eat and more. We were greeted with hugs and our food was made to order any way we wanted it! They even offered to open early for us if we needed them too. And the food, oh yes - the homemade desserts were awesome. Kiwi breakfast - perfect! I would eat there everyday if I could. Taumarunui's best! Aloha from Hawaii!

Great authentic old style kiwi cafe, spacious, efficient and friendly. Timeless classics like mince on toast served with crisp watercress, and cheesecake made on the premises.Nice mix of European and Maori staff, and similarly customers.The locals come here - always the best indication of genuine Kai (food).

A blast from the past. Popped in for breakfast and coffee. All good and well priced. Just off the main street down an uninviting arcade but worth discovering.

Friendly and pleasant Customer Service. The owner, Eileen Paterson, proudly has a sign stating that she own and operates the place on the entrance door. That is the type of attitude that makes a place great. Food Presentation was excellent and prepared like in a professional kitchen. As you can see….couldn’t take a picture of the food…as it look too good. Only an empty plate :)

Just like other reviewers. A blast from the past. Nothing fancy and not pricey, food is good especially their deluxe fish burger, I would recommend others to come for a quick simple feed.

A traditional cafe/tearooms style establishment rarely seen in New Zealand these days.Nothing trendy or artificial here. The place to come for a nostalgic feed of a bygone era.Fill up on great tucker at great prices, served by friendly staff.What more could you want?
