Absolutely loved it. Food was great, service was wonderful and energetic. We didn't know what we wanted to drink and the guy at the bar was really excited to make us some custom drinks. Drinks were amazing. Service was quick and the atmosphere is great

Great atmosphere even on a quiet week day. Staff are fantastic, brilliant service. I had a Salmon pizza, I thought it was equal to the best pizzas I've eaten. My wife had a smoked fish pie and was equally impressed. Great range of drinks on tap as well as everything you could desire in bottles and cans. Best prices we've seen in Christchurch. Pool tables are in great condition and stage area looked good, unfortunately no one playing on a Monday night. 10/10

Really great place which is often overshadowed by the Rockpool downstairs. The grub is absolutely divine and the service was exceptional. For good hearty homely tucker you'll truly leave satisfied. If you love your cue sports, you'll also be in heaven.

If I could give zero stars I would. Started off terrible, and only got worse from there.1. We arrived to find that our booking was incorrectly put into their system, the staff were rude when we asked to be seated despite their mistake on the time.2. We ordered drinks which took about 30 minutes to be brought over to us.3. They then managed to totally forget a meal that we had ordered. We waited thinking it was taking longer to cook… never arrived. Waiter / waitresses never visited us to check if we were happy or to atleast check we had all our meals….4. When we ordered two pints of Murphy’s, one glass was served in a proper pint glass, the other was in a substantially smaller glass yet still charged the same.5. And no Guinness on tap!! You claim to be an Irish bar lol!Found staff extremely rude, dismissive and incompetent.Can’t say I ever want to go back again.

Really nice pub! Great ribs and good beer.Stayed for some rounds of pool aswell. Great atmosphere! Would definitely come back here again!

Rubbish as the barmaid didn’t wanna serve me cause she didn’t feel comfortable. Wife asked specifically what made her uncomfortable, she doubled down and said if anyone else bought me a drink we’d all be evicted from the bar? To save the peace , went down the road to drink while the rest of the group had dinner there. Idiots

Had the worst experience because of an a**hole bar tender working late Saturday night I politely asked if he could come closer as the music was loud as he couldn’t hear me. he just started aggressively yelling at me. He’s lucky I didn’t throw my drink at him.

Decided to walk up the stairs and check out this place as Rockpool didn't answer their phone and when we attended they were booked out....and happy about that.The Micky Finn's staff were really nice, offered any table to choose from and were quick to seat us.A minute or so to check the menu, then drink orders taken, meal orders taken as drinks delivered to table.Great chit chat with staff and spoke about the restaurant being new.Then the food came out..I ordered the Beef Cheek Curry and it has been the most flavoursome meal in the week we have been in Christchurch.Wife had the Pad Thai and ordered the Pork Belly as well.Servings where great value vs cost. (My Beef Cheeks are in a bowl, so actually larger than the picture shows)Son was delighted with his Pizza.

Bit quiet as it was a Monday evening but the food was excellent and unexpected. We had lamb shank which was in a massaman curry, and beef cheek in curry sauce. If we were here longer we definitely would return as it was excellent.
