I got a pre made teriyaki chicken plate and my wife ordered a vegetarian roll. Both meals had very chewy rice and seaweed that was rolled around my wife's vege roll was dry and inedible. Very disappointing.

No idea what the 1 star reviews like CHLOE are talking about. this is the best sushi I have had of all time. Perfect amount of sauce, and mayo. chicken and rice ratio is made to perfection. When ever I am in Kaiapoi I am always sure to stop by and buy a tray of sushi. Keep doing what you're doing guys, because what ever you're doing it's working.

very good sushi except for the fact that their chicken on rice have barely anything in them compared to other sushi restaurants that a packed to the top, they use to be good but getting less and less

I only heard bad things about their food, so I had to try it out myself and it was very dry and barely any flavour. The owner and staff are beyond rude when trying to order something. It felt like I was eating something that had been made a few days ago. There is another Sushi place in Kaiapoi only a 2 min drive away, I recommend anyone going there instead.

Food is fairly average along with customerService. Hardly worth keeping the loyalty card as the reward is only 50% off for the tenth meal. Parking is great. Only a few bar stools. It’s really only just a takeaway service, otherwise it’s ok and meets my needs when not wanting Macca’s next door.

I'll start my saying yes, it was delicious. Now that's out of the way here's the important points - small selection, not a lot to pick from, maybe I just came at the wrong time. A little expensive, for sushi, it's mostly rice.I got a tray of crispy chicken, a salmon roll and a rice ball - $20But all tasty and actually their wasabi was very nice too, fresh I think, not from a packet.

I arrived on a Saturday at opening and they had a few items on display. I asked if they had any of the varieties not displayed and the very charming woman made them all fresh for me right there. Three large boxes with no problem and a happy smile. The sushi was delicious and I can’t praise the shop assistant enough for how pleasant she was dealing with my request so early in the morning. Definitely recommend *****

Just been to Sushi Ya Kaiappi, staff were super friendly, offer to make sushi fresh as it was busy time and stock was flying out the door.. As to the rice balls some of the best I have had in a long time. The dumplings were out of this world. Can't wait to visit again.
