Stewart Island Lodge - RealNZ

An absolutely stunning place to stay. Just the right amount of elevation to provide sensational views, and still an easy walk from the Oban shops. Lisa was so helpful and knowledgeable about the island - and had some great tips on where to spot some wildlife. The communal dinning and lounge area was beautiful arranged and very comfortable. And the perfect place to start the day with breakfast.

Elevated over Bay. Gorgeous view. Excellent continental breakfast. Sharing our balcony with Kaka, Tuis and Kereru was a real treat. Hiring a car was a good idea. It gave us easy access to the village and the many beaches and reserves on the island.

Wow. Just the best. Morning breakfast was especially enjoyable on a large table with lovely layout of cereals , toast, bagels and chance to talk to the other guests. Unlimited fast wifi and perfect shower and bed. At 200 a night it was worth paying the extra to get such a nice place for our 2 day stay.

On a hill above the city with no accommodation for transport back and forth. The room was nice. The view from was awesome of Half Moon Bay. Breakfast was good. But the woman who took care of the place during our stay from April 30 to May 2 has no personality, has absolutely no sense of any sort of customer service. No personality for service industry work. Very regimental.

What an amazing place to stay. Great views out over the bay from your room and plenty of bird life.

Loved our stay at Stewart Island lodge! Julie was very friendly and lovely to talk to about the area and places to go. Breakfast was lovely in the morning too. Thankyou !

An outstanding place to stay on Stewart Island. Highly recommended. Amazing views from the front four rooms and the shared lounge/dining room over Half Moon Bay andOban.The rooms are comfortable, good temperature control, nice bathrooms, good quality beds and bedding. A small fridge is big enough for a few drinks and some snacks. The shared kitchen has more coffee, tea and milk supplies.Sustainably they don’t service rooms every day, but will do on request.The team are the standout though. Friendly, engaging and very helpful, they can book Reql Journeys activities and will give you great advice on the island’s activities a d attractions. The host, Lisa, was delightfully down to earth and made us feel like we were at a home away from home. The other team members were welcoming and accommodating too.Would definitely recommend and stay there again!A quick watch out for the walk up though. I’m not overly fit and called it ‘heartbreak hill’.... though the pub does have a courtesy car and there is a taxi... walked it twice a day though!

Fab location, beautiful rooms & accommodation, the hosts were lovely so helpful, only wish we could have stayed longer. Pickup from the harbour was unexpected but very welcome. Highly recommended

Spent 2 days and nights. A beautiful spot, fantastic views with amazing bird life right at your finger tips. Our hostess, Lisa is very charming and makes you feel right at home straight away. Only been there a few hours and realized that our time on the island wasn't going to be long enough. Highly recommend.

Wow! What an amazing place! Views are incredible. Staff are always on hand. Beautiful room. And Prince Harry stayed here on his last visit. He also attended the quiz in the Southsea Hotel.
