We have just had the most memorable, gorgeous & amazing 3 x weeks in New Zealand in a luxury Seeker Campervan. Bay of Islands Campervans with their high reviews was our choice of company to hire from. Throughout, Nick & Robb have been exceptional with their communication & professional advice, they don’t just treat you like a booking number-they treat you as if you are family & the holiday you are planning is just as important to them. Prior to arrival they at all times responded quickly to any query I had emailed & even assisted with our itinerary and gave their personal guidance. During our holiday we had contacted Nick & Rob with enquiries -both where fantastic & sorted us out instantly over the phone. We collected & returned our campervan from Christchurch and managed to travel just under 4000km in the 3 weeks. The Seeker was easy to drive, had fantastic fuel economy, vision was great & trust me-you will be saying “wow” all the time at the jaw dropping scenery, was extremely well fitted out & spotlessly clean. We never felt cold as the heating system is excellent, fixed bed is comfortable, the fridge/freezer is far larger than I expected, the BBQ was great, the awning was simple & set up in seconds, having wifi on board was brilliant & envied from other campervans & I initially had doubts about using the loo-it honestly was simple to empty & the blue chemical kept any odours away. The tourist radio was informative & it has a segment called “the kiwi lingo show” always a good laugh. Of all the other campervans on the roads –we definitely had “the perfect one”. The roads where a lot windier than what we expected & the Seeker manoeuvred beautifully, we shared the driving. If you are a couple that want an exceptional holiday experience with all the added luxury, then there is only 1 choice to having the best campervan & that is to book with Bay of Islands Campervans.

I can't say enough how happy we were with the experience of renting the campervan from the Bay of Islands. We booked it for a 3 weeks' vacation, and we had a lot of worries about the quality of the Motorhome that we going to get and the service level. We were picked up from the airport and we were brought to the pickup location. The Motorhome was more than we hoped for. It was almost brand new, spacious, clean to perfection, and fully equipped with anything you might need as towels, bed linings, cluttery, pans, and pots. We own a similar motorhome, and we know how hard it is to keep it in such pristine condition. We were provided with a full tour of the Motorhome and within 30 min we were on our way. During our 3-week vacation, some we needed to ask someone local for advice, so I called Bay of Islands for support. They always picked up the phone and very patiently explained to us how to deal with the situation. The VAN was perfect, it drove easily, it didn't consume a lot of gas, and it never broke down. On return, Nick and Rob did a quick inspection of the van and brought us to the Airport. I would rate the VAN 10 out 10, the service 10 out of 10, the price 10 out of 10, and the overall experience Amazing.

We rented a campervan (seeker model) from Nick & Rob to travel across NZ for 4 weeks.After comparing all kinds of campervan hires we opted for bay of islands campervans and we certainly do not regret this! We were looking for a campervan that had a fixed bed (in the back, not above the driver cabin) and the ability to shower in the vehicle without wetting the complete bathroom/toilet. The seeker model had everything we needed (although the bed was less comfortable than we had hoped for).At first bay of islands campervans looked quite expensive but when digging into the details we discovered that all other companies charge extra’s for things you assume to be basics (e.g. a camping chair set, GPS navigation). So if you add it all up the price point is not that different than the competition. The main difference however is in two things:- The quality/luxury of the camper we had was amazing (on many campsites we got compliments on vehicle from both tourists and locals). Everything was there, up to the tourist radio module, gasbbq set and very good GPS navigation. We connected the vehicles audio system via Bluetooth to play our spotify playlist from our the tablet. The on board wifi is really nice and very useful when planning your trip or contacting the home front.-The personal service provided was impressive and we really felt that we had someone to fall back on in case of questions or problems. Before the trip we had a call with Nick and went through our planned route, proving us with useful tips and advice. Upon arrival in Christchurch we picked up the camper and it was explained in detail by Geoff who really took his time for us. The camper contains an (emergency) cell phone and on the first day we had brief call with nick & rob to ensure we were all up & running and everything was ok. During our holiday we had a cyclone coming to new Zealand and received a warning message on the phone the day before to ensure we were safe and aware.We dropped off the camper in Pahia and stayed the last night in the B&B after which we got a personal ride to airport ensuring a timely drop off at the airport. Everything was perfectly arranged to last detail. Our holiday experience has been amazing and for a large part this due the contribution Nick & Rob and the hired campervan. We highly recommend them and wish them all the best with their company.

Hiring a campervan from Bay of Islands Campervans was simply just great experience! Everything went super smoothly - selecting the right van, paying, all communications before the hire and during the hire, answering small questions we had, van pick-up and return. Nick and Rob are very nice. It's really 'No worries' if you hire from them. We hired a van for 2 months and drove around both islands (>6000 km's) and the van worked smoothly without any problems.

We recently spent 5 weeks touring New Zealand in our camper van from Bay of Islands, and simply can't overstate what a great experience it was. The van was smaller than what we're used to traveling in at home, but was a compromise worth making, as it was so easy to drive and maneuver on the many miles of narrow twisting New Zealand roads. It's size also allowed us to park easily in car parks and on the street, unlike with larger motor homes. I call it the Mini Cooper of motor homes, as it is so easy to make U turns, which we did quite often. We met many other travelers who were driving the Sprinter type of camper van, and without exception they were impressed with the quality and layout of the Bay of Islands van. Having a dedicated bed and a dining table that can remain up was very important to us, and it worked out great.We had an almost new camper van, which was quite nice, but we still had a fairly serious technical malfunction three days into the trip. We called Rob to explain the situation, and he was on it immediately, arranging for the AA mechanic to travel all the way out to our campsite. The malfunction couldn't be repaired in the field, so Rob arranged for us to travel to a garage in TImaru the next morning, where a repair was made, and we were back on the road again, with minimal interruption to our trip. I can't say enough about all of our dealings with Nick and Rob. The main reason that we decided to go with a small camper van business was for the added attention to detail and the service ethic that you hope to experience, and we are so happy that we did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone interested in planning a New Zealand camper van trip.Thank you Nick and Rob for helping us to have a great New Zealand experience!

We had the best time during our 3 week honeymoon in our camper that we rented from Bay of Islands Campervans. Our Explorer camper made for a seamless and excellent trip all the way from Auckland and down the North Island, onto the ferry, and all around the South Island - ending in Christchurch.Making the reservation was easy. Nick and Rob were very responsive to all of our inquiries and easy to communicate with. They sent us videos to review about the camper process, linked us up with their resources to help us plan our itinerary, and supported us as we arranged travel documents and tickets.They met us at the airport and provided transport on our way out as well. When we landed from New York City, Nick greeted us, took us to the camper, gave us a very thorough tutorial, even suggested a few campsites and supermarkets for our first night. We felt very taken care of and prepared after such a long flight into New Zealand.The camper itself is very luxurious: gas stove and oven, hot water shower and water, swivel seats, motorized stairs to easily get in and out, so much storage, and the option to be totally self-contained or plug into mains power - this camper can do everything and in comfort! There is even the option to set up wifi while you are traveling! We loved listening to the Travel Radio channel provided as we drove through the country. The fixed bed made it so easy at night and Nick and Rob even provided camping chairs, table and outdoor cooking supplies. All the indoor kitchen supplies are provided as well - a really great sharp knife, scissors, pots and pans and all dishes/glasses/silverware that you need. You will want for nothing in this hotel on wheels.During our travels, any questions we had were easily answered by looking in the supplied manual or through a quick text to Nick or Rob. We did not have any issues with the camper as it drove really smoothly and all the features worked so well.We hope to be able to travel to your amazing country again in one of your gorgeous campers! We first rented from Nick & Rob 7 years ago for a 3-week camper van tour of the North Island. Based on our research at that time, what Nick & Rob offered, and the very positive reviews, we chose them for our first camper van visit in NZ. That time we were collected in Auckland and spent the first night at their B&B in Bay Of Islands. We were totally satisfied with a both the equipment and the service, so when we first planned a return trip to the South Island, no further research was needed -- we made arrangement with Nick & Rob to pick up our van in Christchurch. We all know what happened 2-1/2 year ago, but we didn't want to give up. Nick & Rob kept in touch and managed to survive, so we were very happy to finally get our return visit recently. Turns out we were their first rental on the South Island after things opened up, so there were some adjustments, but we were kept well informed of the post-pandemic plans and everything went smoothly with our pickup and orientation. We were pleased to see that the Explorer (updated from the version we had last time) now has a nice deep kitchen sink and oven. We did have a few minor issues, but we got almost instant response and support from Nick & Rob and were able to resolve things with no delay. For us, the Explorer is an excellent size -- enough room inside to be comfortable and easy to drive. And, very well equipped with essentially everything one needs for cooking and living. Overall, we had a great time and can recommend Bay Of Islands Campervans without hesitation. They'll take great care of you! Thanks, Nick & Rob

From the outset we knew that we were going to be well looked after and this company has such a personal touch. The van (Explorer) was super clean and everything in it was great quality from the china mugs to the REAL GLASS wine glasses - and our very own WIFI router so we could stay in touch with family and friends the whole time. Rob and Nick are always there if you have a question and phone you on the first day to check that everything is in order and you are happy. During the 4 weeks Rob and Nick helped us sort out a few personal issues with lost property and nothing was too much trouble. The van itself performed really well on winding roads, and up steep gradients, and being automatic it was a dream to drive. The last night in New Zealand was just perfect as Rob and Nick cooked us supper and we had a lovely relaxing evening at their B and B before they drove us to the airport - very luxurious transport! For 4 weeks we hired a Bay of Islands camper with full satisfaction. Beforehand we already had a good feeling about renting through Bay of Islands, because of the fast and accurate communication with Nick and Rob. Once in New Zealand, this turned out to be completely correct. A top camper and a top company! highly recommended!

Nick and Rob were very efficient upfront when we did the booking - responding quickly to emails and providing detailed information where necessary. This was our first motorhome trip and they were able to reassure us the Explorer would be fine for our needs and also easy to drive.The layout proved to be perfect - such a boon to have the fixed bed! We had been worried about stowing our suitcases but there was plenty of room in the locker for them as well as the BBQ etc. So all in all a great holiday and we would definitely recommend Bay of Islands Campervans.
