Right outside the Waiouru Army which has a cafe to relax in while charging (business hours only though). The 2 chargers are hard to spot at in the dark and one gate appears to be shut over night so use the gate at the South end of the carpark. Currently these are 50kW chargers.

Two DC fast chargers in front of the museum. Need a charge net account to use. Short walk to cafes, shops, facilities. CCS and CHAdeMO.

Parking spaces are a bit narrow. Plus it's at the blank end of a parking area where most people seem to expect to be able to drive through ...and find they can't. So lots of awkward turning around in multi-turns right behind the cars charging ... while they also are trying to get out past other cars who arrived after thinking they, too, can just drive through or who think the reversing vehicles ahead means an empty parking space. This can make reversing out of the three charging parks a slow and frustrating process. To be fair, after the War Museum closes the place is deserted. Public toilets are available 24/7 across the road about 100 metres along, just next to the truck stop. There are also toilets available in the Museum cafe when it's open. You enter through the main entrance. The cafe door is exit only.

I'm out trip from Upper Hutt to Auckland this charging station was the second one where one of the two units was out of action. However when the good one was cleared we got in and charge the car without any further issues full stop it is actually in the car park for the hotel museum and is a slightly tricky turn off from the south heading north so take care.
