After sampling the various delights of Fairlie it came as a pleasant surprise to find this hidden gem. The opihi river walk set expectations low but the opuha dam restored our faith in Fairlie. A beautiful example of an earth dam that can be driven down! Will visit again next time we are in the region

Off the beaten track down a gravel road beautiful view and the dam is very big with work being done to it so your not alone and the cctv camera you have eyes on you.

Interesting place for a visit, apparently the fishing is good in the lake and at the weir, downstream of the dam.
