Hostel is alright for a couple of days. Great location. Rooms are ok, equipped with lockers, nothing special but clean that’s most important. Bathrooms are also clean. The kitchen though has not enough hotplates to cook on in my opinion, gets dirty quickly and the storage space for your food is very limited. Also some of my food got stolen. In general there’s a bit of a lack of atmosphere. All in all it‘s ok for a few nights as I said but I wouldn’t necessarily stay longer than that

The kitchen is really big, clean showers and toilets. However, stains on the carpet floor made the experience not feel very clean. Room was just outside the kitchen door and all the doors in the facility are fire doors so they slam shut. So, we could hear the door to the kitchen slamming constantly.

Unbeatable location from which to travel into and out of Christchurch. The airport shuttle and a major bus depot are just steps away. Dorms and private rooms were clean, lockers in the room were very helpful. Nice large kitchen. The way the bathrooms and showers are designed and situated is confusing, but no huge deal

The noisiest hostel we’ve ever stayed in, and the last one we stayed in had a literal nightclub in it. Walls are paper thin and you can clearly hear the entire conversations of people in the room(s) next to you. We had particularly inconsiderate people staying next to us as well which made the experience worse - partying until 1:30/2AM last night doing nangs (nitrous oxide).Being close to the kitchen doesn’t help either. Constant noise from people coming and going and making food etc. Avoid those rooms if possible

Good value for money. Hostel was relatively clean and well-maintained. Although quite busy, the place is also large and quietens down at around 10-11pm. I found the beds to be surprisingly comfortable.

Having never stayed in a hostel before, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The bed was clean and the mattress was obviously quite new. I met a bunch of cool people and made some friends. That was definitely the best part. However, if you need peace and privacy, a hostel is not an ideal option. This one did offer private rooms as well though, but I wanted the full hostel accommodation experience. I'll definitely be back there next time I am in Christchurch.

Really an above-average hostel, and I've been to quite a few lately. I saw the reviews about the manager being unfriendly, so I had to see for myself. :-p There was an older guy who seemed a little impatient, but come on guys, if you can't deal with that kind of thing, what are you even doing traveling? XDThe talk about it being a large-scale backpacker factory" are true - the place is a bit of a maze and houses a very large number of people. But that was fine by me

Fine place overall if you just need a quick nights sleep somewhere. The amenities are decent and the lounge spacious.Why the negative review you ask? Well the acting manager Francis McLellan was nothing but rude and unhelpful. I have not in all my years of travelling experienced such audacity from a person in his position. It is beyond me how he got his job and unfortunately has put me off staying at this accommodation for the duration of my stay.
