Mountain Journeys is the absolute best. I have had two wonderful experiences with the team at Mountain Journeys -- life-changing trips in the New Zealand backcountry that I will never forget. I've always been a big tramper, but I wasn't very confident with going off-track. Rob from Mountain Journeys is truly an expert in the field and I had the opportunity to learn about navigation techniques and trans-alpine travel that was truly unique. At the end October I was lucky enough to be invited on a mountain journeys audit trip to princess bath and mt princess.From the start Rob was amazing on giving us advice on what to bring on the trip and answer any questions we might have. Rob made sure to walk us through the plan and the weather conditions and addressed any concerns we might had a couple of days before the trip.The trip itself was an amazing experience that exceeded my expectations and I gained such a wealth of information during those 2 days. The knowledge and experience that Rob has is astounding and you can see he’s very eager to share this with his clients.The food gets a special mention because I haven’t had such luxurious, tasy, filling and somehow lightweight meals in the mountains before.I would highly recommend mountain journeys to anyone who wants an adventure of the beaten track with a guide that is knowledgeable, experienced and is committed to giving his clients the best experiences

Went on a trip with Rob up the Rangitata and over Butler Saddle. This wasn't our first objective, but the weather forecast was pretty iffy, and Rob made the good call to change objectives. Rob's a great guide, juggling all the tasks that ensured everybody had a great (and safe) time. It really was a brilliant, challenging adventure for all of us, yet at the same time stress-free. I'm certainly looking forward to doing more with Mountain Journeys in the future.

I’ve taken two trips now with Mountain journeys and can’t recommend highly enough. They take such great care in trip planning and caring for their guests. All the guides have been fantastic, incredibly competent, caring, and fun people that you’re excited to be on a trip with. Rob’s knowledge, skill, and attention to detail are all top notch. Can’t wait for the next trip.

Mountain Journeys is really great. Rob, as well as the other guides he works with are enthusiastic, encouraging and really know their stuff. I learnt a lot and they were all really supportive of people asking questions etc. I'd definitely go with them again when I'm back in NZ, especially if I was only home for a few months and didn't have the time to get reacquainted with NZ tramping but wanted to get properly into the backcountry. On the food: I'm vegetarian and the food was really good!
