Stewart Island Outdoor Adventure & Gift Shop
Surprised and impressed to find this wee shop to be so well stocked. Went in to replace my headlamp that had broken on the way down and to buy a gas bottle. The staff were really, really helpful and I was impressed by the selection. You can get most outdoor basics here, including freeze dried meals. A good option if you don't want to bring everything with you or if you realized you forgot something.

Brought some really good sunnies here for fishing.Shop has gear for tramping, camping,fishing,snorkeling.Has a selection of nature books.All good stuff.

Customer service was a let down. Felt like an inconvenience as soon as we walked in the door. Wanted to hire gaters. It wasn't much more expensive to buy some new. The shop has some good quality gear, however wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

Great outdoor shop with a range of backcountry meals and gear to hire/buy at reasonable prices. I hired some gaiters for the rakiura walk and they were super helpful and friendly and the gaiters made a huge difference in the mud! Wish I had come here for more gear and food!

Was a little hard to find, it’s not obviously signposted as “Outdoor adventure shop” and I walked up and down the street twice before I worked it which was the shop I was after but they were friendly and stocked what I wanted :) Dehydrated meals and smaller bottles of gas
