Nice size rooms with comfortable beds. Heated pools are great and so was the spa. They also have a gym and guest laundry. The restaurant is great with some nice buffet selections.

it's so frustrating that I have to spend hours and hours dealing with a double charge on my stay. I booked my room via Expedia and paid in full online. but after I check out of the hotel, I was charged again on my credit card.I have visited reception to get a full refund which is nice. But the refund shows as pending after 10 days, now it disappeared from my bank. Hotel is kind enough to provide proof that they have refunded me, but I definitely didn't receive the refund and my bank also confirmed there's no refund whatsoever. So the question now is where has the refunded money gone? It's such a mystery!!!Still waiting for a resolution on this and all my bank can do is to start a dispute with the wrong charge and that will take ages.Update on June 6:This hotel is so good at pushing responsibility away. I have spent 3 hours dealing with my bank and they have never received the refund. I have provided my bank statement to hotel and show them refund has never hit my account. Hotel couldn’t provide any bank transaction which proves the refund is taken out of their account.since the hotel has stopped responding, I have no choice but to report this fraud to police.

Good hotel to stay at,beds are clean, comfortable and warm, bathroom is starting to look tired but they do the job. Awesome heated pool and spa, the restaurant is an amazing buffet, and only 5mins drive to city centre. I recommend a stay here.

Loved this hotel! We had a view of the Whakarewarewa hot springs and geyser right from our room and balcony. It was so fun! We rented a car so we were also within a short drive to downtown and the restaurant row right on the lake, as well as a quick drive to the redwood forest. Staff was professional and helpful. I recommend it if you have a car!

Stayed 2 nights the smell appeared to be dependant on the wind. Nice clean double double room .Must be a New Zealand thing. Small clean recently renovated bathroom with sensor lights on entry . Bathroom mirror had a defogger .Coffee and tea making facilities including a capsule coffee maker. Parking was in short supply as there were several conferences and functions during the period o our stay. Restaurant was busy in the morning took quite a while to get a coffee. Good selection of food available for the $35 breakfast buffet. Also on offer was a $10 discount off your bill if you elected to not have your room cleaned every day. The designated smoking area in the front car park was a bit of a pain. All in all a pleasant stay .

Comfortable accommodation with a very relaxed vibe. The restaurant, Chapman's, is very good for families.

Have been there for many times when it was Holiday Inn, everything was perfect. And this is the 2nd time I stayed there since it was bought by Rydges…. The experience was awful, except the heated swimming pool. And that’s the only reason I love this place- my kids love it so much. The room was dusty and fluffy on the ceiling, carpet was mouldy, and the scramble egg from the breakfast tastes like a overcooked steam egg(my 10 yr old son can cook better than that) and it’s $35 per person. Only 3-4 chairs and 1 table around the swimming pool, people just left their towels and bathrobes on the ground(luckily there was no rain). And the towel room next to the swimming pool was empty all the time, you haveta go to the reception to ask for it. Same as the bathrobe, they are not provided to every room according the staff from the reception(why?), you need to go downstairs and ask for it.The receptionists during my check in and out are very friendly.

In my previous stays, I always enjoyed the Holiday Inn experience, but this time, the hotel has been rebranded under a new chain. I opted for a Queen Queen room, hoping to have a similarly pleasant experience as before. However, upon entering the room, I was immediately dismayed to find beef jerky residue on the carpet left by the previous guest. Furthermore, the four pairs of indoor slippers that were supposed to be provided were reduced to only two, and one of them had red stains of unknown origin, possibly blood. To make matters worse, I discovered used milk capsules behind the coffee machine. This has been an extremely disappointing experience, and I will certainly not consider returning in the future. The breakfast was also underwhelming, with nothing noteworthy to look forward to.

Rooms are certainly dated. Some things don't work. There was no in room guidance. Stains in the bedding and floor and mould in the bathroom. Didn't seem to be a room service option available and the restaurant here is over priced for what you get. Except if you do the breakfast buffet. Certainly worth it!Comfortable stay if you are going to various things in the area such as the living Maori village which was a great experience. But annoyed at the Parking, seem to be overtaken by non guests, staff were not very accommodating and helpful when we sought assistance with something broken (though they were all very nice when around the hotel and checking in).

Little bit disappointed with the room, bathroom in particular. Grout in parts of the shower is black and the whole bathroom looks tired and in need of refreshment. Staff is friendly and efficient. Hotel is close to the exit of town and it is not the most convenient for walk if weather is changing or raining.
