New Zealand World Peace Bell
In 2002 Christchurch was declared a Peace City. The world Peace Bell Association in Tokyo gifted the bell to Christchurch in 2005. It was unveiled on October 3 2006. The peace bell is made from coins & medals donated by 103 countries which has been mixed with copper, truely beautiful & unique

New Zealand World Peace Bell
One of the interesting things to see at the Christchurch Botanic Garden is the New Zealand World Peace Bell, a replica of the original handed to the United Nations by Japan during the post WWII era. The bell was unveiled at his present location in the Garden in 2006.What you find here is a large, one metre tall bell weighing 365 kg. It is the largest bell on display in New Zealand. The bell hangs within a contemporary style pavilion and is surrounded by flowerbeds, which were in bloom during our recent visit. This made for nice views of the NZ World Peace Bell and picture taking. You can find the New Zealand World Peace Bell on the Botanic Garden maps. It is an easy attraction to see while enjoying time at the Garden.

New Zealand World Peace Bell
A bell carrying with it a hope of worldwide peace and nuclear disarmament. An important message to uphold in this day and age and we must remember the fragility of peace and the importance of empathy. Significant monument in the gardens of Otautahi.

Beautiful memorial bell with many benches to sit and contemplate, whilst you rest on your garden walk. I love the sentiment and meaning behind the structure. Worth a short detour to see.

New Zealand World Peace Bell
As Deputy Chairman of the World Peace Bell NZ Chapter I thought that I should ring the Bell for world peace and to remember all those lost in the Mosque shooting 2019.We rang the bell 5 times to send out the sound of understanding and love. I was joined by many people who had the same idea.
