Smaller than the photos make it look. Nice to visit, but really quite grubby now. Could do with a big clean and tidy up. Gardens surrounding it are immaculate, shame the water pool is so nasty!

Looks a bit sad and neglected. If the sculpture should be the embodiment of Napier's spirit, then one would have higher expectations of its appearance, one would have thought.

Spirit of Napier
The Spirit of Napier is located on Marine Parade, just down the road from the National Aquarium. It is located close to the road but is visible from the beach walkway. The golden statue is on top of a series of arches which spray water. It was quite a different type of fountain. It was an interesting thing to see while walking down the beach.
