Dog Stream Waterfall
This is a moderate walk with lots of variation along the way. Not the easiest for kids but our 5 & 7 year old girls both managed to complete without too many complaints.

Worth it. Gets steeper towards finish but you can appreciate the veiw of rewarding cool moss-carpeted fall. Make sure to bring insect repellents near the fall - sandflies!

Moderate to difficult hike depending on the weather. Stairs freeze over towards the end in colder days but as someone mentioned previously, hard to find the start point.Follow Jollie's Pass Road and turn left onto McIntyre Road (not viewable on Google Maps). Follow this road until you see Mullans Rd and this will take you to the carpark to start.Allow for 1.5hr on the way up, a bit of time to spend at the waterfall and then roughly 1.2hrs on the way back. :)

You can’t beat a waterfall!! A lot of uphill, as that where a waterfall starts. Didn’t think that one through before we left.Fantastic Hike, with a couple of “Are we there yet?” Well worth it!! Through the forest over bridges, bird songs and the sound of water!! I love to this way more!!!

Fantastic easy walk through the forest to this quaint waterfall! The last bits of the walk can be quite tiring, but nothing out of the ordinary.P.S: We struggled to find this place and the Google maps wasn't all that helpful. You'd take the Jollies Pass Rd, and turn left right after Apline Holiday Apartments (before you get to the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp).

Really great walk through the forest to the waterfall, certainly wouldn't say its an easy walk as its uphill pretty much the whole way...approx 4.6km return(2 hrs).Highly recommend - definitely make sure you allow plenty of time though.

Beautiful hike up the mountain with some steep sections. Good fitness with ideally no kids. Best part was the top with the amazingly high waterfall. Worth it!

Great walk! Although, not for the faint hearted as it is steep in some parts but the views from the top and the waterfall make it worth while.

As a reference point. From Hamner Springs hotpools (town), turn right into Jollies Pass Rd and travel for approximately 2km, then turn left into McIntyre Rd and follow it for the next 1.5km. Turn left onto Mullans Rd and follow it until you reach the Hanmer Forest Park car park. From the car park, you then walk along well-signposted Waterfall Track called the Dog Stream. In one hour you will reach a track's junction, keep to the left and you will get to the waterfall within the next 15 minutes. Return via the same track, and total walking time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. What is impressive is the height of the waterfalls - 41 metres. You can virtually stand underneath and touch the fast flowing water pouring down.
