Loved our stay. Our hosts were lovely and helpful but also gave us plenty of space. Beautiful surroundings, awesome beach. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Our bed was a bit uncomfortable but we loved everything else so much.

Lovely place to stay as its situated right on a quiet bay. Beautiful views and easy access to beach right in front of the units. Units are simple but have a good kitchen and two rooms, one with queen bed and the other with two singles. The small lounge has a pull out sofa too. The unit had sky tv but no movies, only sport. Since we were there in winter we didnt have much to do, so lack of movies on sky was annoying but Whangarei is close enough. Would definitely stay again. SUMMER THERE WOULD BE AMAZING!

We stayed there over the weekend and absolutely loved it. Right on the beach, amazing views, clean and tidy. We received such a warm welcome from Shirley and Brett that continued til we left. The perfect family holiday.

Peaceful, impeccably clean, outstandingly beautiful location, great hosts - honestly, we were so pleased that we stayed here. The kitchen being so well equipped was icing on the cake.

Great staff who were very helpful and helped choose an appropriate room for my elderly parents. The beach is in front of unit and absolutely wonderful. The rooms were clean and they helped get an extra plug for our radio.

If you want beach views, peace and quiet and to listen to native birds and the sea then The Sands is ideal, but we're here late winter. I'm sure it's different in summer. A lovely bay right on your doorstep. Accommodation is adequate but very 70s and tired. For us location is everything and we had everything we needed. Will be fabulous for families on a summer holiday.
