Grass area's not open yet. Closed off over winter. Toilets locked. Would be lovely spot in summer. Will come back.Revisted Jan 23. Grass area open to Camping. Huge area. Plenty of quiet spots. Lovely river. Good Toilets.

Lovely area however signage for where to take your dogs not really clear. All it says is follow arrows. We never found one. She loved the river. We're we allowed there?. Don't know. Kept her on long sniffer lead in case not.

More suited to families wanting a larger area for games perhaps. The river is nice enough, though when we went, the access was awkward since a 4WD had chewed up the road. Make a good dog walk though.

Great spot,huge grassed open field adjacent to the river. We had a refreshing late evening soap free swim to replace our shower. Absolutely poured rain most of the night, ground got quite saturated. Good toilet facilities and easy to find on Google maps and a short distance along a bitumen road from the highway turn off. Situated approximately 1.5 hrs north from Wellington. Highly recommend people stay here. Remember: you will need a camp permit

In terms of dog walking this is not somewhere I would go out of my way to visit. Really just a riverbed, found one decent swim hole. Looked like a great camping, picnic spot and there was a dogs on leash bush walk.

Huge space in a lovely flat grassy reserve. Great toilets and an outdoor shower.
