New World Westend

As I stepped foot into mighty west end New World, I was met by the bright lights and a gust of chilled air. I made my way to the infamous deli, I selected a large chips from the menu. I looked down at my watch (a fancy apple one) it’s ten past eight. Tracey will be charging through those doors any minute- I need to hurry. As my chips were handed over the counter, a wave of disappointment flooded through my system. The hot chips package fails to be busting open, the sticker isn’t even torn.I looked down at my watch again, it’s thirteen past eight. I take the first bite of my chicken-salt covered chip, almost immediately, I felt instant regret as it was revolting. Disgusting. Unacceptable. $3.99? More like worst mistake of my life.

I went to the deli at 5.45 to buy a chicken pack for dinner there was a line which was ok because I like the chicken. Only to find when I got to the counter at 5.55 there was only two pieces of chicken left and they said they weren't cooking any more.They had taken per orders for some people that carried on doing there shopping it would have been nice if they told everyone in line that there wasn't going to be enough so we didn't wait for nothing there where people in line behind me to not impressed with the service.

The staff that work there are not very welcoming people! They looked at me like I was a suspect or something! First and last time here! It can't beat Te Puke New World ♥️

Chips in the fast food section were awful. Cold hard and dry. Wouldn’t usually write a review but this is not the first time!The self checkout this time too was appalling staff were unkind I’ve been shopping there for 30 years the store has definitely seen better days

Gotta be honest, I don’t usually do my big shop here. What I do love is they stock lines and products the other supermarkets don’t, for instance; Jersey Girl Organic Milk. I really like this particular brand and come here to buy it. The produce dept always looks so so good. I also enjoy perusing their craft beer area every now and then. I am no expert, but they always keep this area well merchandised. The art work on some of the cans is something to behold!..and sometimes better than what’s stored within the can..But that’s another story! This supermarket is always well staffed that’s for sure! There are a couple of entry and exit points to this supermarket from Old Taupo and Malfroy Rds. And don’t forget, some purchases can attract a discount on petrol.

Quality wise of course it's catching...Price wise could be more competitive..Could be more variety of stock...Overall satisfying...

The best in town compact shop long serving staff plenty of helpful staff, shelves are always full and tidy, good parking available ,a hot drink and something to eat at their cafe nice,

Worst customer service Ive ever encountered in NZ! Come here to shop if you would like them to literally 'look down' on you due to racism !!! The old kiwi lady at the counter was avoiding eye contact all the time and the supervisor explained as due to 'culture differences '. Well, I didn't really enjoyed the shopping experience here at New World Westend as if anyone would racism as their 'culture '!

I wanted 2 whole pork eye fillets . There was no stock in the cabinet so asked a butcher if they had any, he checked and there was no stock. I said I needed them in a day or so, so he took my name and phone number and said he would let me know if he could supply the next day. True to his word he rang the following morning and confirmed he now had stock and could meet my need. Great service . Well done.

ohh the pork belly from the deli was delicious! good selection of groceries in a good location. the bakery selection is fantastic.also the young guy on the checkouts was awesome! he had a great way with customers, cracked a joke and made us laugh, while being polite and demonstrating excellent customer service. I didn't catch his name but if every new world employee was like him, I'd never shop anywhere else!
