Huge thanks Brendan. We used your shuttle and found you to be timely, friendly, informative and professional. And you had kiwi humor. But most of all you brought a cultural context to our crossing which was important and appreciated and delivered with meaning. All walkers should experience such a karakia, learn to respect the mountain, and be wished a safe journey. Thanks also for lending us an extra climbing pole!

Backyard tours shuttle service met every expectation. Car park is in the perfect location for a thru-hike of the Tongariro Alpine crossing. They can't be blamed for the weather lucky for us the day we went the weather was perfect. Thank you backyard tours for providing a great start to an amazing day.I will use them again when we plan to do the Tongariro Alpine crossing as a family.

I highly recommend backyard tours shuttle service. We were very well taken cared of, from the morning pickup to the drop off back to where we stay. The whole journey is personalised and we were given lots of helpful tips and shared with local fun stories. What's more is that we missed the last shuttle due to some unexpected mistake on the way back from the Tongariro Crossing and a special pickup was arranged just for us on our late arrival. Thank you so much for making our trip a safe and pleasant one!

Used the secure parking and Backyard tours today for our crossing. Easy to recommend these services as we were treated with cheerful knowledgeable staff and the shuttle was right on time. An easy walk down the road at the end to collect our car.

We had an excellent experience with Backyard Tours. The staff was friendly and everything went very smoothly. The driver provided us background and information about the trail including Māori cultural elements. Another great thing about this company was that we were able to park in a secure lot rather than the highway. Highly recommend this company!

Such a great service, loved the info along the drive about the history of the area.Really appreciated the karakia prior to beginning our hike. Was great that we recorded our dets and were asked to text once we had finished our hike as well as the driver taking a pic of us all, felt reassured of having safety measures in place. Would totally recommend these guys :)

Tongariro Alpine Crossing: Backyard Tours All Day Parking lot
Great service shuttle company run by a lovely couple. At 5.15am they were very chirpy & full of facts on the area. A nice touch with the Maori prayer to start our journey off.My boyfriend & I finished the track quite quickly, the only downside is you have set pick up times, so we had to wait a couple of hours for a pick up. The shuttle did arrive an hour earlier than scheduled thankfully with a cold beverage, so we were very grateful for that!

Had a great experience with Backyard Tours (after Tongariro Expeditions cancelled on us on the last moment through a text saying not enough people!). James was awesome and so was the lady who was happy to pick up my call at 8pm to make the next day booking. They have a secured carpark as well.Highly recommend! Thanks to James for helping us in the last moment - it was such a great day to do the crossing, we loved it!
