YHA Lake Tekapo

The bed was the worst bed ever. You could hear each moment on the bed. You lifted your leg to get comfortable and it would make loud noises. You could see bright light from hallway as well. The toilet was too close to the wall as well. Kitchen and location were really good. You could tell the kitchen was clean and up to date. Please update the beds!!!Also want to point out the heaters settings couldn't be changed. So you either boiled or cold

I stayed here for 1 night and was so impressed by the clean, modern facilities! My room (shared dorm with 4 people) had it's own bed light, 2 charging outlets all to myself, and was generally very comfortable for a hostel bed. You also get your own locker that can be padlocked (just bring your own). The shared kitchen was standard and very clean! The shared living (downstairs and upstairs) area had a great view of the lakefront. Overall a great vibe with very chill travellers passing through (unlike some big city hostels that have all sorts of folks). Combined with being central to everything, friendly staff & having modern facilities, you honestly get a bang for your buck!

One of the best hostels I have ever been in the world. First, the location is great... right next to the lake with an amazing view for your morning coffee. At night you only have to step out of the back door and you will have one of the best stargazing experiences close to your warm shower and bed. All relevant activities are in a range of a 15 minutes walk. The rooms and the kitchen area have a high quality and last, but not least the service is super friendly and late check in is no issue.Just great!

As all YHAs are.. no-fuss.. very standard. U know what to expect.Loved its location - just beside the dark sky centre, stone throw away from billy the bard, open space right outside to see the stars (on a clear night), 4square and restuarants close by...The common room for chill out boast a fantastic view of the lake.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and I really enjoyed it. The kitchen was very clean and well-equipped with lots of pots, pans, plates, utensils and cooking stations. I didn’t have to wait for someone to finish using them. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. There were also lots of free toilets around in case the one in our room was occupied.The hotel was close to the local supermarket, which was very convenient. I loved the dining and lounge area which had a very nice view of the lake. The internet was super fast and reliable.One thing to note is that you need to bring your own locks (or buy one at the petrol station like we did) if you want to use the lockers that are everywhere in the hotel. They are very handy for storing your food and belongings.I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cozy and affordable place to stay.

Possibly the best hostel in the world! We had a private en suite room, which was very clean and quiet. The communal areas are stunning, you could be in a 5 star hotel. Loved it here

The whole motel and facilities are all clean. The location is very strategic as well. Recommended

This is the best YHA hostel I have ever stayed at. The view onto the lake is unbeatable. The facilities and dorms are also in excellent condition.

Rooms with ensuite is small. Queen bed basically is 80% of the room. TV not working at all. Heater can only switch off automatically after a while. It was really crowded in the open area because of the rain. Common kitchen, washer area all great.
