The gear is the same price regardless of features - you pay the same price for an Osprey pack with an antigravity harness as an old style macpac pack that isn't as comfortable, and you don't know what you'll get until you show up.

We rented the Great Walks package from Bev's for the Milford Track. The equipment was great. Pickup/dropoff was convenient and easy. They also sell freeze-dried packages for a good price (cheaper than outdoor stores in Te Anau).

Can’t recommend to rent winter gear here. We rented crampons to do Kepler track in snowy conditions and both crampons broke during the hike. In Iris Burn hut we met another girl who also used this company and her crampons also broke! What are the odds?So better look for other places to rent your gear.
