We usually visit this place when visiting Kaikoura. In the off peak periods it's usually the one place guaranteed to be open. Fish meals are pretty good. Batter on fish nice & crunchy & chips look to be hand cut. My order was the dory meal. Fish was small but cooked perfectly & served with lemon & tartare as well as the coleslaw & chips. Very fast & friendly service

We have eaten here few times before and it has always been great quality. However after spending close to 50 dollars- what we received was appalling. The chips were so oily , they were brown in colour and some of the chips crumbled due to the oil. It seemed as if the chips were cooked already and then put back in oil again. Furthermore more my mam has been puking and very sick this morning after the prawns. We ordered close to closing time but the standard should not be dropped like this. Disappointing experience all round.

The place felt very authentic and local. Despite being fast food" the quality of the food was great and there were many flavours balancing perfectly in the vegetarian burger. I loved how crispy the chips were on the outside and how soft on the inside. Yum!"

The scallops were lovely and tender but the squid rings were not very good with an excess of batter. The shop was busy and messy. Couldn't see any condiments like vinegar, salt or sauce bottles. Flies were buzzing around wooden cutlery.Good to have parking at the side and they were quick.

Authentic fish & chips. Very nice portions and a big menu and beverages. A lot of seats, nice outdoor area. However one of the employees (on the 6th of May, 2.20pm) was pretty unmotivated and had problems by taking our order. We expected a more customer friendly service.

This fish and chip shop in the heart of Kaikoura is a beaut. The food is cooked well and all the staff are really pleasant.Located at the start of the Main Street of Kaikoura with plenty of parks to nudge in to this place is very popular with locals and tourists alike. We just had the normal everyday fish at $5 a piece this time but there is a choice and price point for everyone. The order was quick to be delivered and the batter was crisp and fresh and we bought tartare and tomato sauces to go with it.Thanks so much and as usual we will be back again when passing through!

Eat there few times, fish(Snapper) and chips are nice but sometimes can be a bit soggy and greasy. If the chips cook 10 seconds more would be perfect. The Snapper is delicious.

Quite popular fast food place with lots of outdoor seats available and it’s own car park for customers. Choice of food is very good indeed. Taste is alright, we liked the most their seafood chowder, fish and chips was ok (portion of dory was small, one piece only). Buttered oysters and scallops worth trying too. If only portions were bigger, then I would give them 4 stars.

The snapper costs a bit more but was excellent and the proportion sizes were generous. It can get busy but the food gets to you eventually and is worth the wait. Recommended!!
