Have popped in a few times for coffee, a couple of times for food. Coffee is good, service is friendly, venue is tastefully decorated and lovely and clean. Nice outdoor seating on a sunny day. Simple classics on the menu which are done well - my poached eggs have been perfect the few times I've eaten there and I think that's important.

I discovered Frank's about a week ago and have been a regular visitor. I do love the vibe of this place. There is something about an open fire and an awesome atmosphere. For the purists the coffee is excellent and the Kai and service top drawer. Highly recommend this cafe.

Thankfully this cafe has just started opening until 4 pm, perfect for afternoon tea time. We were in Ohakune on a quiet weekday afternoon and not very hopeful of finding somewhere for coffee and cake. But the lovely people at the train station recommended Franks, and we were not disappointed. A freshly baked carrot cake was on offer, complete with proper cream cheese icing. The chai latte and chocolate milkshake were delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere, with a good music selection, a lovely wooden interior and garden view. The staff did not fuss around even as it got close to closing time. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Beautiful atmosphere with indoor and outdoor area, places to park your bike. The hosts are lovely and have recently purchased and refurbished the place. Menu looks amazing with plenty of options. Only wish they were open in the evening for dinner.

Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed , we visited , Jan 24th, whilst on our New Zealand road trip from Papamoa (3) and UK (2)We had fabulous breakfasts lovely fresh produce , great portions and the best coffee .The owners, who have recently taken over, are so helpful and welcoming. The restaurant is extremely clean , lots of seating inside and out.

The carrot cake is delicious: moist cake with a thick creamy icing. An ideal place to stop after walking the Old Coach Road

Nice place with half big breakfasts on the menu. I subbed english muffins for usual sourdough. Nice outdoors areas.

Nice cafe, we dropped into Franks for lunch. Has good outdoor areas to sit, and the service was great. We had the chicken burger and beef Thai salad, the burger was good but the salad could do with more salad and less noodle. Overall the cafe was really nice and we will return.

We had the beef burger and Thai salad. Exceeded our expectations. Really delicious food and service was great. Would recommend highly if you’re looking for a nice place for lunch! Good work!
