GM Hair Design

This was honestly my worst experience at a hairdressers. My haircut by Mike felt rushed and the result was uneven, unflattering and a waste of money. I am not a confrontational person, and just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. It was the first time I had been and had high hopes due to the 'award winning' salon. I have never been compelled to write a negative review until visiting GM Hair Design.

Wonderful salon. I've been going to them for nearly 20 years. Personable, friendly and more like part of the family. Great hair products too. Love Mike's texturising creme. Love Glynis' short cuts. Not always easy to find someone reliable on a short style.

What a God send.So happy with Mike & his team.I had a very bad color done at another salon the day b4 & a friend recommended GM.They were helpful on the phone & I nipped in 4 a quick consult b4 they closed. Mike managed to fit me in the next day!Mike & all his staff were lovely & friendly, even allowing dogs in the salon.They did a fantastic job & after a long complicated process got my hair exactly the color I'd wanted it & in good condition considering the bleaching.The salon itself is big & nicely designed. I loved the plants over the basins & the huge round mirrors at the stations. Great drinks selection & things to read.I will definitely be back & recommending to my friends.

I have a great experience at GM Hair Design. Their new premises are spacious and light-filled (with a cafe and a swing!) and you can park at the door. Mike is my stylist and he quickly understood what I was wanting and let me know what would be required to achieve it. What impressed me most was when a section of colour wasn't quite right he offered to fix it for free (most people wouldn't be able to tell). He's more of an artist than a hair stylist. You won't be disappointed.

My friend and I went to get our hair done by Tuscany a couple of months ago and it was the best cut and salon experience I’ve ever had! Tuscany listened and checked in to make sure the cut was to my liking. She’s such a wonderful conversationalist as well! I moved back to the States, but I wish I could teleport just for her to cut my hair.

The best salon in Christchurch, and I have been to many. I have been to a couple of stylists at GM, usually supervised by Mike, and they have always provided consistent and exceptional service (with particularly complex colours also). They also do a great haircut. I wish I wasn't moving overseas as, after years of searching, have finally found my go to hairdresser.

Best hair studio I’ve been to! Lovely staff and incredible stylists- highly recommended magic hands mark’s shampoo sessions it really tantalises the dome (ask for magic marc) - jokes aside, beautiful atmosphere and the kind of place that makes you wish your hair grew faster so you could come in all the time!

Good customer service and nice salon. But unfortunately hair cut was not great, right side is a good inch shorter than left. Was the last cut of the day and it was felt, minimal effort into a quite pricey haircut! Hopefully better experience for someone else

Do not recommend , I requested a full root touch up for my blonde, they tried to speed up my process by putting me under a heat processor (completely out dated technique and inappropriate decision for my hair which was dark/Polynesian hair) The end result was a mixture of grey and yellow tones. The owner actually didn’t comment and asked how I would like my hair to be styled. I asked him “does this look right to you?” and he said no it doesn’t therefore asking name to return the following day to correct my tones free of charge. They did correct it however my hair has suffered since their service due to their mistake from my first appointment, my hair has not grown for a whole year due to the amount of bleach and correction they had to perform.
