The Foodhouse & Cafe
At the centre of the Otaki main Road.I had a quick lunch here with a coffee.That was Good. Many people in there, no table for me. I requested if they can make a table for me. And they did.Cold salads, some sea foods options.Vegetarian options especially a mushroom pie but not sure the pastry was vegetarian friendly though. Hot food available.Overall, I enjoyed my food and coffee.

My 11 year old son who has Coeliac Disease went in and asked if a smoothie was gluten free. The woman who served him was absolutely horrible, said no allergies

Seems like a lot of locals come here. It’s a little run down , but a lot of variety. Food is okay, beef patties are frozen, chips are not that crispy. It’s fairy cheap though, pay what you get.

Located in the main st of Otaki township, The Foodhouse & Cafe has a large range of cafe and bakery foods. They also do a good selection of hot foods, including roast meals. The prices were higher than what I would normally expect for this type of establishment in a small town. The staff lacked any enthusiasm and weren't particularly friendly. The food tasted good though, so that brings my rating back up ti three stars. Not sure I would go there again though.

Shocking food & serviceonly place open on a Sunday for a quick grab and go lunchPies squishy + cold $5.50 pie) & barely any selection (chicken satay and butter chicken , steak & kidney)Sandwiches drier than the Sahara and for what looked like a filling sandwich only had the fillings at the side you could see (1 piece of lettuce - half a slice of tomato either side of sandwich and a small 50c sized piece of red onion. - no mayo . Not worth the $5.Bacon & egg quiche was - tolerable- everything else went in the binOwner miscalculated (even whilst using a calculator & her till) my change - giving me $3 back from a 23$ lunch (that her til showed) and keeping my $50 .Won’t return - poor service - poor food ,

Went around 10am pies were dry and the ham sandwiches looked great and full until we opened the sandwich and the fillings were only pushed to the front to look that on so really there was only one piece in there. Very deceiving.

Food is disgusting. Ordered a small pork roast, meat was cold, gravy tasted like it had curry powder in it, meat tough as old boots. Mum had a pork roll and asked for spinach to be removed as she is allergic and the woman took everything off except for 2 small pieces of meat on an almost 12 inch roll. $7 for that rip off. Asked her to put salad on except for spinach and she didnt even respond back in english.Will not be going back. The bin got a very expensive feed.

Hand dryer and door to the restroom could have done with some cleaning attention but the main Cafe area was clean and tidy. Not enough tongs for getting food from the cabinets, customers were just reaching in with their hands to get food, but the service was smilingly excellent and the food was good. Moccha was spot on, which at the time, being rather thirsty, was the most important thing!

Dont Usually rate places this bad but I feel like I have too. Customer service was confusing. We had no Idea where to go and what to do. The dude was pretty stingy on the chips and the chicken wasn't nice. Could get better chicken and chips from my Local four square for the same price.
