Set off from here to raft down the waimak gorge

What a hidden gem a great spot to get some fantastic photos.

It's a good bridge, a very understated bridge. Freshly painted white railings to match the areas name sake, a very basey and satisfying 'dah-dump, dah-dump' as you drive over it, close to 20 slabs in length. A short bridge... but not too short, it reaches the opposite bank perfectly. A very functional way to get from the south bank over to the north bank of the Waimak here. I think you'll all find it sufficiently functional and aesthetically pleasing.A potential improvement could be to build a jump on the north side so you could send it off the end and park your car immediately into the side of the Hawdon shelter.All-in-all, a bloody good bridge.

A great spot for camping if you have a self contained camper. No services here other than a portaloo for some parts of the year. Fantastic scenery and it gives you a great appreciation for the nature of the waimak

Was here for the Rasdex River Classic kayak race. Stunning location.

This stunning location on the Waimakariri River is only really accessible in two ways, you can drive here on the West Coast Road just up from the Arthurs Pass outdoor centre, or glimpse it briefly as you whizz by on the TranzAlpine Train. The view from the train (where I captured these images) is simply breath taking and is highly recommended.
