A place to view geothermal geysers and mud pool. The geysers erupt every 45 minutes or so. They also have the Maori art college, gallery and shop. The bonus was seeing the kiwi birds that are kept in an enclosed controlled environment. The guides do a good job with details.

We had a very education tour and explanation of the Maori culture that the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute is working to preserve and teach to the young. Part of the entrance fee goes back to providing funds for the institute. We also got to walk around the active geysers both mud and steam. Interesting how the whole process works in nature due to the presence of very hot rocks below the ground. Good to go!

We did the Te Po (night experience) and it was magical. There weren’t a lot of people (thank god) so the welcome ceremony and the show were very solemn and intimate. The performers were greatSeeing the geyser at night is also a different experience than seeing it on daytime. The hot chocolate and blanket were a nice touch. Our guides were also nice and knowledgeable and full of energy! The dinner was superb! Food was delicious though i’d caution to take just small portions so you can sample everything. it’s just a shame that they seat random people/group in one table. I would understand if the venue was packed but it wasn’t. It would be a non-issue for social/extroverted people. But it’s an introvert’s nightmare.

From the moment the tour started we were in good hands. Our tour guide was happy to answer questions and cared for those in our party with accessibility needs. The train we were driven around in is a great idea as the temperature was warm. Amazing craft there as well to purchase and the cafe does a lovely lunch. We didn't go to the hangi but our friends said the food was amazing and worth going to experience.

Did the Te Rā guided experience and it was amazing! Powerful geysers, excellent guide, beautiful views, and you get to see wee kiwis as a bonus in a suitably designed environment. You also get access to the art and craft centre which houses students learning to carve and weave. I spent 2 hours all in all but you can do it in 1.5 hours.

absolutely worth every penny! guided tour with maori takes you to various experiences: beginners lesson in maori language, maori cultural village, kiwi breeding, geothermal park with mudpools and geysir, schools of woodcraft and weaving, all of that interspersed with exhibitions/explanatory signs. i wd ve liked to spend the whole day there, there's so much to soak in :)

Rather poor experience. You must take a guided tour which costs at min $75nzd. Our guide was rather crass and did not actively try to ensure guests were learning about the area but simply went through the motions, when asked questions she would just say I don't know. In addition we only covered 1/4 of the park where as other tours seemed to cover closer to 2/3 or 3/4. One positive to note visiting the cultural education center and seeing the incredible work the men and women do there! Overall may recommend passing on this experience, other places were more interesting to visit.

We attend the Te Po Indigenous Night Experience. All you can eat buffet, dessert, followed by some song/dance/entertainment before witnessing the Geyser erupt. The locals were both humble and quick witted with their humour - we really enjoyed being welcomed into their community for a few hours. Definitely recommend this experience for out of town’ers

We did the day guided Tour. Great experience and our guide was very knowledgeable. I bought the tickets online which was easy process. The Pohutu Geyser is amazing. The Māori arts and Crafts Institute and Gallery is very interesting place to look around. Overall we enjoyed our visit.
