The wedding venue of our dreams. This was our dream wedding location and our day was beyond that. After booking 2.5 year before our big day the venue just kept getting even more stunning, everything has been thought-out and they were so accommodating to what we were after. The glass house was such an amazing space to have as a wet weather option if needed that my worries of watching the weather were pushed aside. We got married under the tree's on a 25 degree day in January and our guests and bridal party were so comfortable as everyone was shaded from the hot sun. Everyone had the best time and were blown away with the beauty. We wish we could relive our day over and over again, cant recommend enough

I'm a professional photographer and have shot at Black walnut venue. Not only are the staff super accommodating and friendly but the venue itself is stunning. The grounds are incredible and there are so many amazing photo locations on site. Definitely would recommend Black Walnut Venue if you're needing a wedding venue in the Tauranga region. This place is perfection! We could not be happier with choosing BW, it was the first venue we visited and immediately fell in love. BW is set on beautiful grounds giving you plenty of options for ceremony spots & photo opportunities and we definitely got to make the most of it! There were also great options for us to choose from for the details like cutlery, charger plates, candles, cake stands etc. to get the look & colour palette we wanted.Dan and Mandie were great to deal with, very friendly and helpful; both in the lead-up to our big day and the big day itself.We stayed in the on-site accommodation and loved it, beautiful place to spend the night with my girls and get ready on the morning of our wedding.Photos by our photographer Jackson Bright

The venue is so magical, an actual dream. Staff go out of their way to help, have heaps of useful things to use on your day and everywhere you turn there's another photo opportunity.We stayed at the venue the night before at the gorgeous house and it was very comfortable and impeccably styled. I would say that if you plan on cooking in the kitchen (which is massive and a joy to cook in) it's a good idea to take your own knives.

We celebrated our wedding at the Black Walnut recently and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The venue is simply stunning, and even better at night time when all lit up. There are loads of places on the property to celebrate (and photograph) all the special moments; we absolutely loved staying at the house for two nights; the best thing though is the service we received from staff members Robyn and Enrico. They went out of their way to make sure everything flowed well on the day, and the presentation of the tables, the serving of the food and drinks, the music and all our guests were supremely taken care of.

Had the opportunity to attend a gathering at The Black Walnut.Wonderful place, very tidy, very well kept.Good parking is available.Well established trees, oaks, avocado and gum?Driveway is a-bit tight to get into with a very sharp left hand, but not difficult.Owners were very nice, pleasant people to deal with.Few details that need attention that I feel.More shade in the court is needed, at low sun the shade provided is almost null.The white stones on the court cause a lot of glare.Now for the unpleasant part (unfortunately)Drinks that came out were quick to be removed from the tables… now I’m not talking 1/2 drank drinks, I am talking full glasses that were not part of a bar tab, these were paid for drinks by guests and at $15 a glass upwards this was not on.At dinner, (inside the main hall area) the sun glare was a bit much, this normally isn’t a problem, and we asked if a sun umbrella could be moved over about 1m to help.The first girl was a delight, very happy to accomodate, then she asked another girl to help her and she got a reply that guests at the table hear “Oh, they want shade then do they?” In a rude manner.Now when a guest has solar urticaria they need shade, it is an unpleasant allergic reaction to too much UV rays.Attitude is not needed.One last point…. While eating dinner you can clearly see the lavatories, maybe a screen could be erected to help stop your eyes looking at the porcelain throne while eating (as not all people close doors when finished)Other than that, it is a really nice place, but it’s without flaws and if these were addressed for any other guests it would make it really special.Hope this helps all from future guests and the proprietors.

Beautiful venue. Hosts are a bit disagreeable, especially going off how the respond to reviews. The house for the wedding party is nice but no wifi? Insane to me they wouldn't offer WiFi, sure the place is in the middle of nowhere but it's 2023, WiFi is definably a basic thing to provide especially at the price-point of the venue.

Extremely disappointed with this venue and the people running it.Please be aware of the terms and conditions before paying your deposit because they are very unfair: 1)Even with 2,3, or 10 years notice to cancel the venue... even if you don't sign a single thing, even if your family are dying overseas and you have to get married internationally instead.....you will lose half of your deposit no matter what! Thats $1250 gone!No sympathy from these guys at all. We offered to replace my booking with someone else but they weren't interested in it. They profit from people cancelling due to unforeseen circumstances. Not empathetic business owners at all - just keep that in mind before paying the money - there's no going back once that money is paid. Tough lesson learnt by people that pretend they care about your day when really they don't.If you're going to fight them for it, highly suggest a contract lawyer - dont bother with the disputes tribunal. (These guys seem like they have been down this road with other customers before.)
