Te Pua Reserve
Just a short drive on a gravel road from the main state highway and you at the Te Pua Reserve and camp ground. A great place to fish and boat from with stunning views of the Sicilic Sand dunes and you right on the shores of the Parengarenga Harbour. Te Hāpua is situated 4 km northwest of Te Pua Reserve Camp Ground. $10 per night to stay but its all of the grid with only long drop toilets!!! But the views and location is worth it.

Looks like an ok place to camp. I think it used to be freedom camping but when we called in there was a local in the hut collecting fees. Don't think it was much to stay...more like a token donation to help keep it clean and free of trouble. She was happy for us to drive in and spend time there even though we weren't going to camp. Some guys were fishing before the camp and said the fishing had been ok.
