The Motu Trails: Dunes Trail is a wide, packed-gravel trail great for cycling, walking or running (there is quite a bit of traffic with people cycling so please be courteous). The leisurely and pleasant Dunes Trail takes in coastal scenery (Pacific Ocean coastline) with opportunities for seaside picnics and swimming. You can even hire bikes if you do not have one of your own. It is perfectly marked so you cant go wrong. This is A MUST if you find yourself in Opotiki.

Wow, what a great bike trail. Perfect for a family day cycle. Plenty of stops along the way with bench seats. Beautiful views

The ride was great beautiful views. Did not feel safe parking at parking at the start, when we got back to the our car 2 cars pulled up with guys wearing masks and just watched us. Will not park there again

Great walking and biking trail for all ages...and also good for walking dogs on leads, sorry this trail is not ment for horses.

Lovely bike ride. Pity that selfish people mean that a huge number of gates are required all the way along the trail.Disappointed that nobody allowed us some space to sit down at the end to prepare for our return trip.

Great walk from the carpark to the beach, would be fun on an mountain bike. Interesting art of the local birds on the trail. Public toilets near by at the memorial pavilion.Only down side is that we didn't find many access points to the beach, so couldn't use it as a loop trail.
