Sunrise Balloons Queenstown

Highly recommend! Partner and I went in January over the summer and had a fantastic time. Rock (pilot) was great throughout the entire trip. Whole team involved on the day were also very nice and a load of fun. I’m not the best with “unstable” heights, but this was a very enjoyable experience and I’d definitely go again. I won’t spoil the experience but you’ll see some amazing views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers.

We probably got lucky with the most perfect day for it, but if you’ve never been in a balloon this is honestly a life changing experience. I don’t think I’ve experienced many things as incredible as this. Even if you’ve been flying in small planes this is a whole different thing, being up so high in silence with nothing between you and the clouds… wow.

It's a very different tour now mixing vax'd and unvax'd people, with winter now upon us the fog and rain is touch and go with bookings. However the staff have taken over 5 days to respond to my enquiry which is disappointing. However some one I spoke with went on the tour and said the staff were very professional and good so keep up the good work

This was an awesome experience. We were picked up from the hotel at 6.15am and taken to the starting point of the balloon ride. We were able to watch the balloon being inflated. That took about 10 minutes. Next all on into the basket and up, up and away at daybreak. What an awesome spectacular view of queenstown and the alps! The ride took about an hour. After that we had a mix and mingle with the other guests and a complimentary wine. We all helped roll up the balloon and put it away in its big bag. Then they dropped us back at the hotel. I would highly recommend this but if its near winter or autumn make sure you wear warm clothes because its freezing.

Absolutely incredible! The experience was amazing and all the staff from the bus driver to “rock” our pilot were wonderful. Highly recommend!

Sure we would have loved the experience, sounds like lovely, friendly people and views to die for. However, even if we book the entire balloon they will not take unvaxxed people as it would be unsafe for their staff. What good is the vax if we cannot trust it?? Im vaxxed and have no issue to mix with others that may not be.

Good experience. The only thing I didn’t like is the process after landing. They asked help from the passengers to deflate the balloon , tuck it in the trolley etc. I wouldn’t have expected to do work after a nice flight experience and especially after paying a fortune for the flight.

Their name is Sunrise Balloons but no Sunrise. And at such a premium at $545pp better than average customer service is almost a given and yet Hew fails to deliver that. We called earlier to see if they can move us to a clearer day but Hew refused saying they are good to fly and that we will still be charged full price whether we went or not. If they choose to fly on a gloomy day they should at least offer half price or discount but they didn't. When we called to discuss if that was possible, Hew just rudely hung up the phone. So much for premium service ey *rolls eyes in utter disgust and disappointment*Field staff were okay. We just tried to make the best of the situation as we could, as we were given no other choice by Hew when we called that morning. Not only that when the booking was made no itinerary information was given to us, Hew said he will call on the day but later story changed to customer calls.Their website fails too as it does not send any booking details despite two attempts to make the initial booking and despite checking the junk mail folder. There are other cheaper operators that seem to offer better deals.Beware of this operator as once they have your payment details they hold you hostage! They could easily choose not to fly on a gloomy day but they do and customer has to cop it with no consideration from their side.
