I would advise people to think twice about going into a retirement village where lots of residents call themselves inmates

Updated as of 23/02/22Cyclone Gabrielle was coming & the whole country was preparing for it.The Peninsula Club had no plan in place, did not communicate with the residents & when there was a power outage there was no communication.I had to phone the front desk to ask someone to assist my Mum. The only person on was a junior nurse who was very helpful but who told me that she had not been given a plan or directive from senior management. It was the Sat just prior to the cyclone touching down.I find this disturbing & suggested to this staff member that it would probably be a good idea to make contact with the residents, as many of them would be frightened & many would be on their own. This is not the kind of response one expects to see at a retirement village.Uncaring. No empathy whatsoever. I most certainly do not recommend this village. If I could rate it 0, I would.Sep 2021My Mum & Dad have lived here for years & on the whole the staff have been pretty good up until this week.My Dad died in the most stressful of circumstances in lockdown last September when none of us could see him.His birthday would have been last Monday. The village left a birthday card for him in my Mum s letterbox.Need I say more.Appalling.

Access in heavy traffic could be a problem for those with light foot.... Need a heavy foot and fast car for the small gaps on the main road....Nice places all the same...
