Te Apiti Wind Farm
If you've never seen a wind turbine up close, this is the perfect spot. There's an area dedicated around one and there are plenty of parking space available. You can also see other wind turbines from this vantage point, so this is an excellent spot.The roads to here is quite windy and full of trucks, so be vigilant.

8 star location with breaking taking horizons. 55 Giant 3 blade wind pillars scattered along the hills. Stand below the very 1st wind turbine build in 2003 and awe the comparison of how small you are with it. The steady firm “Whoosing” sound from the blade as it rotates. Do wear extra jackets as the wind can be chilly. Sit down or lie down below the wind turbine & be magnetism by the awesome “swooshing” blades. Stay in your car & enjoy a hot cup of coffee, biscuits & quietness of its surroundings

Te Āpiti wind farm can be seen from the Manawatū Gorge walking track. This remarkable gorge is one of the few in the world where a river crosses a mountain range. Te Āpiti wind farm recreation area is currently closed to public access due to the upcoming state highway roadworks on the Gorge road.

Awesome views across the saddle road from the lookout. Great renewable energy source for the Manawatu region. More cities and towns with the wind capabilities should introduce this idea. The turbines are also a great attraction and are incredibly interesting to look at. Great place and great idea. I recommend any tourists or travellers to have a look at the wind farm and prepare for amazing views;

Amazing sight approaching the wind farm and seeing peeks of the blades between hills and then coming over the ridge and the are right there so big … !!thank goodness the road is limited to 60km so you have time to look while navigating the sharp turns

Great views on a clear day. Get right up close to the turbines. Perfect spot for them as its pretty windy up there, so take a jacket and a picnic, AND your camera!

It was a somewhat nauseating ride up if you don’t like being a passenger.Also, there’s no actual location to stop, it’s not a farm. It’s now just a road.I mean, it’s nice to look at while you drive past, & I think you used to be able to park up somewhere, but after reading the reviews I think it’s now closed permanently.
