The Portsider | The Portsider is a Public Bar conveniently situated on George Street, the main street of Port Chalmers. Dunedin. Our well appointed bar provides a welcoming atmosphere for friends, family, locals and travellers. Our emphasis is on craft beers and fresh simple food. We make our own breads, sauces and condiments and hand cut chips.

We hadn’t been to the Portsider in a couple of years due to being overseas. It’s still wonderful and the food was delicious. My wife had the risotto which she said was delectable and I had the Salmon filet which was expertly cooked! The vibe of the establishment is warm and inviting. We can’t wait to come back.

Great Menu.The flavors were a delight to the taste buds,from entree too desert.The service was awesome. Pip has great knowledge of the impressive range of craft beers and wine. I definitely recommend trying the portsider.

Great, unobtrusive, service. Terrific food - sirloin steak, cooked to perfection, with mash, bok choy and mushroom sauce, absolutelydelicious. Great chocolate and berry dessert that came with a dessert fork. More places need to take note!

Well with a visit, excellent service, food was the best we had during our visit to Southland New Zealand.If you like a good steak and food put this one on bucket list.If you are visiting by cruise ship, it is approximately 400 metres up the main street from the Port.Opens later in the day, for late lunch early dinner time and evening dining and drinks.

Great range of unusual beers. We shared bittebullen to start and the spring onion and pea were light, fresh and flavourful. I had rump steak with peppercorn sauce and the best onion rings, slices really. Excellent value and service.

A excellent pub/restaurant in Port Chamler, the vibe was brillant and relaxed, felt very cozy. The staff were super friendly and helpful, a great range of beverages on tap and a good selection of wine. The food was brilliant, super tasty and filling! Highly recommend going to if in the port area or even in Dunedin, worth the drive!

The place to go to in Port Chalmers to try some great local beers from small NZ breweries.A small but friendly room with comfortable seating and an atmosphere that resembles a library with Boks and magazines to read while supping on some unusual wheat and fruit beers, as well as traditional ales. The tap selection is renewed regularly and offers up some great local brews. Worth the the 30 minute bus journey out from Dunedin and Port Chalmers is a cool little port town to hang around.
