The one place to stop and rest your kidneys and your soul from the mad traffic and people on your way north. Follow the picturesque dirt track as it winds through majestic trees, offering shade and privacy for anyone who needs to walk their furry friend, or just lay on the grass wondering about the universe and the glorious sun Tha peeks at you through the tree tops.... oh yes... I said all that..... no facilities.... and that's great

Nice area a bit deserted? We stopped there towards the evening to cook a little meal and rest. A few others stopped as well. It was spoiled when a homeless man appeared out of the bushes and sat close to where we were. He was drinking. We soon left.

Lots of rubbish left around the picnic table by insensitive travellers - cans, bottles, plastic nappies, food wrappers. We piled it up but there was no bin to put it in.

Great spot to pull off the road for a break. Run the dog or the kids or even just stretch out for a power nap.

Stopped there in the way back from Taupo. Nice quiet place to relax. Though I was rely annoyed by the fast food bags thrown in weird spots in the reserve
