You can drive down towards the wharf but go slowly because of potholes. If you have the time walk there from Tokaanu. This wharf was a big part of the towns history. You look back at the steaming hills and it is quiet and majestic on the wharf.

Absolutely gorgeous, go around about twilight to see some amazing colours and reflections of the sky. Lots of black swans (quite a few had kids) and very tranquil. The last 800m leading to the wharf is packed dirt and if you drive carefully you will be fine. Highly recommend the wharf.

Worth stopping if driving by. The wharf is made of wood covered in different types of moss and plants. You can see amazing views of the lake and hills nearby.

We saw some families with their fishing boats or just fishing from the jetty.Nice quiet park of the lake with some ducks, swans and birds.Anyone is welcome to take a dip in the lake to cool off. Public bathrooms are available.Plenty of parking spaces.

Beautiful place to visitI have never seen these so many black swans in my life before I got here.So tranquil and peacefulI guess not so many people visit here however this spot shouldn’t be missed when you visit Taupo.

Amazing place to witness sunrise. The place has some thermal pools around. I guess the mixture of this thermal activity and the cold weather made it foggy in the morning. It was perfect for enjoying the sunrise though. Also as the fog cleared we actually observed hundreds of black swans in the lake.
