Congratulations on an excellent upgrade. The fresh seafood kiosk is well complemented by the new food court which serves seafood themed meals. Judging by the crowds, it's a success already.Roll on the Wynyard Quarter redevelopment and the Americas Cup Challenge!

I took my teenage daughter to Seafood Central on a Saturday night in February. The service initially was hit and miss - we had to ask for our table to be cleared, had to get up and get our own menus, had to go to the bar to ask to order drinks as no one came to take it. Eventually we had a nice young guy look after us and things improved a bit, or so I thought. My daughter had a seafood pasta dish, I ordered the hot smoked salmon on pea risotto. Her dish was fine, but the salmon was a bit dry and had a very strong oily, smokey taste; it was okay, not great but ....that night, from 11pm to approximately 5.00am I was up violently vomiting. It was the salmon dish.I phoned the restaurant the next day (Sunday) to let them know and was told that a manager would call me back on Monday. I gave them my contact details and email address as they said they were going to send me a restaurant voucher for $100. This seemed responsive, or so I thought. No one phoned. No voucher came.I phoned again a few days later, more to report being ill than anything. I asked for the manager and the guy who answer the phone said he was the manager - I later found out his name was Raj Shah. I explained what had happened and he said they had discussed it at a recent meeting but as no one else had got sick it must have been 'my' food (and my fault). I said it wasn't, that it was the salmon and how it could that I was served an 'off' or 'old' piece of fish, or that someone had poor hygiene practices, but that still didn't explain why no one called me back. He said they didn't have my contact numbers - which they did. He then said he would send me a $100 voucher to make up for it and asked for me mobile number so I could text him back my email address. I then received a text from a Raj Shah and sent him back my email address and never heard another thing since.Shame on you Seafood Central and shame on you Raj Shah. It's better to be promised nothing, than to twice be told they would do something and then they didn't. They obviously just don't care.It wasn't about the voucher, I probably wouldn't have gone back anyway, it is their appalling customer service. This is obviously flowing over to poor hygiene and food handling procedures and into poor restaurant service. I wouldn't recommend Seafood Central, in fact they probably need to be inspected by the Health Department.

I like the ambiance of this place. There was three of us in the party having an early dinner. The seafood was very fresh, but quiet pricey for the amount that was served. This is one of the places where you come to eat and have to eat somewhere cheaper to be satisfied.

Had a seafood platter for $120, great selection and better value than buying each separate dish for 4 people. Basically all you need to order as well as a few drinks from the bar right across the tables on the other side outside. Nice to enjoy the sunshine and even a Waitangi Day show with dancers and drummers

I was blown away by how expensive this place is. Seems like take advantage of tourists. I have been shopping here buying fish for 30 + years. I moved out a bit further so haven't been here for 45 years. Last trip for sure. $62 for 2 160 gram pieces of fish, I plate with chips the other with a simple salad. Expensive cabinet fish. Tables so sticky clothes stick to them, and skin.People can do way better than this.
