Good acoustics. Comfortable seating. Stairs upstairs are quite steep( for the mature person). Parking can be problematic. Good stage to work on.

Beautiful building to have a show or concert but the seats upstairs are very small & too close together. Honestly you feel like you are wearing the other people's clothes which makes it very claustrophobic.

Crazy that the Council (1) chooses to do refurbishments during a long planned season of Phantom of the Opera, resulting in huge extra work for the crew and (2) enforces the use of their own techies who were not able to ensure all cast were fully miked at the appropriate times during the show. The performance itself was amazing - come on Whanganui Council, support your local talent fully.

Lovely old place but the chairs are hard and far too close together. Very uncomfortable, knocking elbows and hot. Not acceptable in todays environment. Leg space also limiting.

We saw Phantom of the Opera here, 16th March 23. Interestingly the opera is set at a time in which this opera house was built, which added to the experience. A beautiful building, thoroughly worth visiting.
