Great place to stop for a break if you're a nature lover. Beautiful trees and lake full of birds and sometimes an odd bird, like Cape Barren goose.

A very beautiful quiet spot to have a picnic or take the canoe out, or have a quiet retreat for the day. St Anne's is just three minutes north of Cheviot, or 90 minutes north from Christchurch and an hour south of Kaikoura. There is a welcoming entrance with St Annes written on old style gates. All it needs is a walking track all the way around.A cafe, a boat shed and a small village with a couple of motels and a camp site on the edge of the lake aka a lagoon would really boost the area.At this present time, it is a good place to come down and have a chat to the Creator of all things and to renew the spirit.

Beautiful place for a quick stop and picnic. Only one table available, though, and not in do good conditions.

Lovely place to stop for a toilet break, stretch the legs and let the dog out for a break too on way to/from Christchurch. We normally pull off in Cheviot township but it can get super busy there and have to be careful with the dog and traffic.Picturesque, tranquil and well maintained little rest stop. Toilet is a long drop but no big deal at all. Might be quite muddy after a lot of rain, but again not a big issue if it's a quick stop for a break. Will stop in again!

An excellent pitstop. Quiet and beautiful. Watch out for the sheep, lol. I'm not sure about the dog rules, but I my doggo out to stretch his legs and for a pee on leash.

While driving north to picton, ferry bound, ducked down a tiny road when nature came a callin' Pulling in could not have been a more random and rewarding act. Before midnight and the moon was still hiding out of sight. The road toured by a set of dunnys then circled round, parked to head out same as entered then haad a peek at Google earth to get a lay of the land.To my surprise the entire place was surrounded by bodies of water and what appeared to be large rust colored trees. Set off down the road again, this time going forward, not around, The road is short and riddled with the roots of large oak trees making it difficult to traverse without rattling your mellon and chipping a toooth Jim Carrey style. Avoid this nonsense by walking 50 meters.Along the way a plethora of mushrooms; Boletus, amanita muscaria, slippery Jack's, and much more.! Bonus!Set up my camera, tripod, and spent much of the night playing with light /water /star combos while the massive tractor-trailers roared down the highway splashing beams of light into the composition. Then the tiny sliver of a Cresent moon eased up into the scenery, late to the party" the birds and I laughing

Beautiful spot to stop for a picnic. Drive or walk further up from start of the lagoon to see a small rows of Oak Trees. Quiet, restful and now one of our favorite spots in Canterbury NZ.
