After an unfortunate incident with our shuttle driver on the way from the airport, the people at the bus company were very helpful in rescheduling us onto the next bus. They also made sure they delivered our extra luggage to us, as there was no more room on the second bus. We did have to wait outside for 4 hours, but that's not their fault.

Intercity are awful. Every bus I have taken has been late on arrival. The buses are old and smelly. What a joke of a national bus company!

It would be good buses actually had a onboard toilet. As I'm diabetic and travel every month on intercity, I need to pee often due to my medical condition

The transport hub of Wellington, WC is the nerve centre of the rail system ('Metro') that controls the Porirua / Waikanae LIne, and the Hutt Valley (Upper & Lower Hutt) and Masterton LInes. WC is juxtapositioned with the major bus terminals (A, B, C, D) to provide commuters with a seamless service from city to the suburbs and vice versa. From these bus terminals you can find direct bus services to the N, S, E and Western suburbs (so you can take a bus to Porirua for example, instead of the train). Buses would be the only public transport available if there is no railway link to that area (eg. Karori). If you need refreshments there is a reasonable cafe and clean toilets within the station, and coffee / food kiosks just outside the cafe and the main entrance. Tucked away just off the main foyer is a small supermarket conveniently located for commuters. The railway provides you with some of the most beautiful scenery in town, especially on the Waikanae line, so if you're visiting Wellington take time to enjoy the fine views especially on a sunny day.
