Hampden Beach Reserve
Great place to enjoy fish and chips from Hampden Takeaways. Has a couple of fake Moeraki boulders on the beach front and the real Moeraki boulders are about 2km south along the beach. No camping or overnight parking is permitted. So use the adjacent holiday park for that.

Hampden Beach Reserve
Nice reserve area with picnic tables, and toilet facility, easy beach access. If driving through the area, this will make a relaxing rest stop.

Has public toilets. Saw lots of people swimming in the river (no cell coverage to check whether river is clean/safe on LAWA site) , the sea though looked a bit dangerous with two big rips visible and a stony beach at high tide.

Amazing place to stay and has the most incredible walks and views surrounding the reserve. Some of the information is a little bit out dated/not correct but apart from that it is an absolute pleasure to stay here and I will definitely be going back.

Has got heaps of dirty and gravel on the grass and which makes it look like just a tip. The waves and the beach is fine, could do with a spruce up aye. I mean, things have gone very down hill since I was a kid.

Nice place for a day out,go for a swim or a play with the kids.If you want to enjoy a meal by the beach however probably not the place, seagulls are very cheeky and will just go for your food, and if not they will poop all over you...
