Formosa Golf Club

Went to nineteen bar for dinner last night as staying at the Rydges. first of all there were 2 young girls working - one was lovely and helpful but the one working at the bar was rude, had a sour attitude and made us feel very unwelcome. They were very unorganised and were telling us conflicting things. A group of 4 of us ordered together and 2 of us had finished our food before the other food even came out. Food was also very average for the price, i wouldn’t go back even due to the convenience of staying at the accommodation. Very disappointed.

Mixed feelings about this course. The greens and the fairways are amazing and the layout and overall course grows on you. It’s also great they cut the rough quite a way in else it would be too hard.The main negative is around the vegetation removal and lack of native trees… especially on the front 9.All in all we enjoyed the round. Loved the greens.

Over the last month or so, service has been slower than usual. We find there is no Manager on duty, and no fault of the waitresses. They are helpful and polite,but no organisation,and some are now leaving. Think that says it all. The food is great and very good chefs.

This golf course use to be one of the best in the country (held NZ Open and designed by Bob Charles) and I have always enjoyed playing it. However over time the course has deteriorated due to lack of investment in the course and the club being unable to maintain enough members to keep it in prime condition. The course is a very good challenge with 4 tee boxes and amazing views especially on the back 9. Its a shame this has happened to the course, though hopefully over time the course maybe brought back to a better standard.For the price its still a great course to enjoy the views and the quietness of being out in the country. You can easily get on for a round anytime.

A lovely high tea with my mum for an early Mother’s Day celebration. Incredible service from all staff and so accommodating. Beautiful view with lovely food.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights recently and had dinner one night here. First of all it was a Tuesday so the hotel website specifically advertised a “Twosday” deal where you get a free entree or dessert with a main. We were told by front desk that the deal wasn’t available even though clearly advertised. Then at the restaurant I again spoke to the supervisor and they came back and said we need to order two mains to get one free entree or dessert. No where on the deal it says we need to order two mains but we did anyway. The supervisor seemed annoyed that we even asked for it. Secondly the food was average quality and definitely not worth the price. If you call this a resort restaurant then you need to have good quality food. Unfortunately this did not please us and we decided not to come back here for the second night. Food needs review if you’re going to price it high. Also your staff need to be friendly and have some hospitality manners if you call yourself a resort.
