City Art Depot - Conservation picture framing workshop and gallery

Just popped in for a nosey. Exhibition space space downstairs and some more artwork upstairs. Diverse and interesting pieces.Welcoming and friendly staff. Quality of the framing was superb.

Handy location, good parking. Used these guys 3 times to frame 3 large prints. Good work all round and not too pricey!

In the last 30 years I have often used City Art for framing pictures for hanging and I have very often indeed used them for matting a large collection of prints and drawings, kept in Solander boxes which City Art have also made. All these processes are carried out to the highest standards of both appearance and conservation values. The advice City Art staff give on choice of frames, size of matt and colour of matt has always been excellent. Similarly they have been excellent in hanging pictures in the three houses I have lived in over 30 years. I cannot speak too highly of their work.

Happy with the hanging but not the cost...ended up being double than quoted. Extravagant prices

This is to recommend the professional services of City Art Depot. Unfortunately, another well-established art framing company framed three large Euan Macleod works behind glass which over the last 25 years had become affixed to the internal glass surface. The remediation and future conservation of these works required considerable ingenuity and skill in combination with the necessary task of reframing the works to be free from any reattachment with the internal glass surface. This has been done to full conservation standard and the results have been outstanding. I would highly recommend City Art Deport for artwork framing and the conservation of art of all kinds.
