A must try to all fish burger hunters.Tipene’s has some of the best hot chips around (stake cut, dusted in parsley, perfect level of salt and crunch). And don’t worry about breaking the bank, ten buck burgers that are great sizes and quality.Surprisingly some of the fluffiest and delicious curry puffs around too.It has friendly staff that really seem to take pride in the food they make.If you are looking for a fish and chip shop that feels like home look no further than Tipene’s.

Best little chippy in Auckland!Fish (gurnard) was perfectly cooked and super fresh, chips were crisp and delicious. Really friendly service and the owner was even kind enough to make me a mushy pea fritter (which was fabulous) at the merest mention of my childhood foodie nostalgia!If the demand is there I'm sure it'll go on the menu!

Heard from friend that the batter fish is stunning, so I drove to check it out. The snapper is freshly good! Get one bite, outside is super crunchy even I did take away, and inside still juicy as. The bonus point is their sauce, spot on!!!! Definitely will come back!!!

Wish their was a negative start option. Outrageously bad. They have changed ownership and the new owners are terrible. We ordered at the store and they could barely understand our order, read it back to us several times incorrectly. Then said it was about 20 minutes away. We waited for 25 minutes then asked we were at, they had clearly not even started and when I walked back in she tried to take my order again. Then waited another 15 minutes. She dropped one of the burgers upside down as was putting it in the box. We get home, one of the burgers doesn't have the top part of the bun, the other burger is beef when we had ordered lamb. I ate the beef anyway but gave a single bite to my partner to make sure she thought it was beef too. Bout 30 minutes after she had a bad stomach and within a couple of hours I had to throw up. The place used to be good with different owners but I won't return there ever again....I wouldn't even biff it to a seagull.

The only place in the city that isn't money minded. Not going to lie I was so surprised and still brag about this place to everybody. The old owners who still work there have earned every bit of my respect. The owners wife a wonderful lady actually paid for me and gave me a gift to take home. I live far away or I would have gone there everyday for dinner. I honestly recommend you go there just to meet the old owners and their family. Such a nice atmosphere and such warm welcoming people. Food was amazing and service exceptionally amazing.

I ordered the Grilled fish and chips and Beef burger. The fish was moist on the inside, while the chips were golden and crispy. The beef patty was juicy and the special sauce adds a unique and delicious flavour to the burger. The combination of the sauce, beef patty, and soft bun make for a burger that is both satisfying and enjoyable to eat. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend Tipene's Takeaway for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal!

So yummy! We always love the loaded fries and they always come fresh and tasty in a pizza box - genius! Definitely satisfies the craving for fried food every time. Onion rings are also juicy and crunchy, with real onion (none of that puréed stuff). Overall the best place for a tasty treat in the Morningside area✨
