Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin

Yes, it was shame the room was given to us in that filthy condition ! We paid for the service what was showed in the photos and in the advertisement description. We were at Kingsgate Dunedin just for 1 night for new year ! Came back to accomodation after midnight, after new year celebrations and found this next to the bed. At the checkout no one even asked how was the stay, rooms etc. so i have this platform to share my reviews about the services i paid for but were not delivered as promised In advertisement !

stayed at the hotel at least 10 times , comfy room good bed , plenty of natural light in the rooms friendly staff , good heater ,close to the CBD .

Room was okay. Bed is confy but i think thses room needs AC as too much hot due to old infrastructure. I would like to thanks hotel staff Camille for her help and kindness.

Great service. Polite and friendly receptionist that helped me to check in early. The room is comfortable with good views. It is walkable to the city centre.

Staff were very nice and welcoming. Property needs a bit of a refurbish. However, booked x2 rooms for one night with a great price. Beds were very comfortable. Ordered room service and got sticky date pudding- one of the best sticky date puddings I’ve ever had. Bathrooms are very clean.Has the potential to be noisy with it being central and uni students being out an about- fortunate enough to not have stayed at Kingsgate at a time when all the students were partying.Enjoyed our stay.

Great room very spacious. Fantastic staff and very clean premises. Only thing I was abit disappointed in was the restaurant wasn't open for dinner. Handy to town also. I would definitely stay at Kingsgate again.

Our experience at Kingsgate was fantastic! The staff was incredibly friendly, both at the reception and during breakfast. The room exceeded our expectations, as it was larger than we anticipated and even had a living room area and a balcony. Although the breakfast was relatively simple, it was still satisfying, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We highly recommend staying here!

I stayed in three hotels in Dunedin (this, Ebb and Fable, reviewed separately. I chose the Kinsgate as it is part of Millenium Hotels and I have has very comfortable stays in London with them. I had booked six nights at a low average rate of NZD150, but moved after 2 nights. I can do budget hotels (my favourite is Premier Inn in the UK) but this one seems very badly in need of maintenance as the photo of the crack around the window shows. There were only two hangers in my wardrobe though (other photo), and on returning after leaving at 10am for a long day out, my room had not been cleaned. The explanation was the computer system was down (which it continued to be for the next three days!) so the staff had to operate everything on a manual basis. The friendly and helpful staff made up for some of the above, especially Lee Angela, but at the end of the day, I decided I wanted somewhere less budget so moved out, and was offered a refund for the 4 days prepaid.

Dated hotel in a great location. Location couldn't be better, but everything else is lacking.
