Glacier Country Helicopters

From a spur of the moment booking to an amazing experience. An NZ owned business that has true NZ hospitality. All staff were so friendly and chatty with a good laugh. The van ride to and from the helicopter was a great part. The glacier landing was so much fun and a great photo taken by the pilot. We will be back to take a longer flight. I can not sing their praises more, thanks team.

Nothing short of amazing experience!! Breathless views of the glaciers. Great time passes too quickly. Owner Gras the friendly skilled pilot flew us thru the glaciers with his extremely nice staff walking and driving us to the pit from the shop. Couldn’t ask for more but if only time could stop, it just gone too quickly without knowing.

We had the most fantastic experience! Megan in the office was fantastic, our pilot Dion was excellent and we loved every minute of our flight and snow landing! Jonti the cat was a hit with the family too! We couldn’t have asked for a better morning!

Booked this last week and it's been the highlight of our tour in NZ so far. We were lucky enough to have absolutely spectacular weather conditions so the flight was smooth and the views were incredible. We took our 8yo and the whole crew was fantastic with kids.

Grateful to be able to experience the majestic and grandeur of the glaciers. Almost couldn't make it up because of heavy clouds. Glacier Country Helicopters were very professional and experienced. They made the right call to wait for the clouds to clear and depart a little later than booking time. Managed to do a landing on the glaciers as well. Absolutely loved this tour! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Franz Josef.

I cannot thank all of the GCH team enough for the wonderful, exhilarating experience of flying with Glacier Country Helicopters on May 1st doing the 60 minute Supreme flight. Right from the time of booking with Megan, through the check in process with(???sorry I forgot the big guy's name), the informative, laugh a minute bustrip with Aaron out to the landing field and then the actual flight, snow landings, informative insights & photoshoots with Dion were all fantastic and added up to a 110% experience.The flight price was great value for money, especially compared to other flights I have done, but the big thing is that I was made to feel welcome and part of the family. The souvenir photo and folder that Dion did while were on the snow was a wonderful extra momento of the time spent and the experience had. I was blessed to have chosen that day & time for my flight, as that night and for two days after it just rained & rained. Through this experience, I made a couple of wonderful new friends in Aaron(GCH) & Nicole. I would & will thoroughly recommend G.C.H. to all who are heading in that direction to stay & sight see and make sure you see that beautiful part of the world. Well what an experience! I just happened to pop in on the off chance that they’d have space and they did - 15 minutes later! Please do not cancel if there’s ‘only’ a flyover. Getting to see the glacier up close is so worth it, however that can happen! We had a wonderful flight right up close to the Fox Glacier and the Franz Josef Glacier. The cloud really just added to the atmosphere of the whole thing! Our pilot was knowledgeable and gave us lots of information on the whole trip. I’d 100% recommend this company, it’s very important we all support small family owned and operated companies. Especially when they’re as good as this one!! 100% recommend!

I’m 50 and my first time in a helicopter. The team at Glacier Country are fantastic. Aaron (good name:) at base was a top bloke and very hospitable. Our pilot Dion was exceptional. The flight was awesome and a perfect winters day. This company goes out of its way to be a bit different than all the others and it shows. Great value and a must do in Franz. Thanks guys. Awesome!!

Such an amazing and worthwhile experience! We had to delay our flight 24 hours due to weather and it was so worth the wait. They spent more than generous time in the air with us, flew over to major glaciers and landed on a third. Lovely people and so accommodating.
