Braxmere Lodge

Our extended whānau stayed here in Easter 2021 for my uncle's 80th birthday celebration. We had a wonderful time in this incredibly beautiful environment. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Beautiful food, which you can eat in the restaurant or have delivered to your room. There's a lovely outdoor space overlooking the lake, where we were able to eat together when we weren't eating in the restaurant. Highly recommended, whatever your purpose!

STUNNING. This is a hidden gem with fantastic staff, amazing views and devine food. The rooms were clean and modern and had everything we needed. Any requests for top ups (coffee for the plunger for example) were attended to promptly. Sitting in our personal little courtyard sipping wine to the sound of the water lapping on the shore was absolute bliss.The food at the restaurant was AMAZING, not to mention very generous servings. We had a late lunch on arrival day and decided on the entree' size for dinner, just as well, as it was more than enough for our main.:: Special service: After dinner one night we mentioned to one of the staff we were expecting a delivery to our room and if they could follow up. To our embarrassment it was already there when we wandered back. Shortly after we got a knock on the door from the aforementioned staff member following up, just to make sure we got it. Driving 4 hours to the hotel, missed lunch, and dinner was fully booked, and no takeaway was provided, even hotel guests, which was unheard of. The view of the room is great, there is a small dock inside the hotel, the room decoration is new, but the bedroom is crowded, the bed is very small, the mattress is too soft, the shampoo and body wash are limited supply, I slept all night, and the body appeared a lot of red dot, I don't know what insect bites.

Wow! For the ultimate gateway from the wonders of life and to relax by the water this is the place. Very special. I could have easily not gone anywhere else the whole long weekend, if the restaurant was open. However, the kitchen had everything we needed to make nice meals with the microwave and sandwich press.Ps the water pressure on the shower is amazing! I will be sure to visit again to try the restaurant.

Fabulous in every way. A hidden gem at the southern end of the lake. Peaceful and secluded. The units have been thoughtfully designed and furnished to a high standard in keeping with a NZ style bach. (Must have been designed by a woman!) Our unit had every appliance you would need and importantly, a comfortable bed. Cleanliness 10/10!Great customer service and value for money.We dined at the restaurant; the menu and food/coffee being excellent.We have stayed at Braxmere twice recently and took friends there too. We look forward to another stay soon.Thank you for your great hospitality.

Really disappointed in the attitude of the manager- after driving from Auckland we arrived to find a smelly room with a bed unmade. At 9.30pm we found ourselves having to find alternative accomodation elsewhere. On calling the manager 3 days later I was told I had negative vibes and was being childish in my complaints and poor reviews. She informed me that they are getting a lock box to sort out their after hours service. It must be a pretty high tech lock box if it makes beds! Surely the priority for any manager should be making sure rooms are prepared for guests and looking after them. I would recommend to others to read the lesser reviews if contemplating booking as these show a different picture and there seem to be many recent poor reviews. There seems to be many promises made in the replies to disgruntled guests but no follow through. You also should ask to check your room prior to making payment.

Fantastic location - great food - great staffYesterday Sunday 9 Jan a Family birthday saw us again (4th time in past 9mths) join the Braxmere team for lunch in the sun. Superb food. Logan our server was great. All in all the best place to eat. But don’t tell anyone! We have booked for a repeat on Wednesday already!

Excellent spot. Nice food and lots of outdoor seating with tables and umbrellas and indoor seating. The view is very good over the lake. Good menu for lunch. Nice tea and coffee. The staff working there were very good. Also quite hidden away from the world and next to a Maori village. Its possible to come by boat and there is some moorings available.
